Tesco Misprices Thread 14

Ok. So I've read the information on the above link.
This morning I was told by CS in one store that the manager had decided not to give me DTD on the wine that I had purchased as I had been in there before.
As I had my son with me I opted not to argue and accepted a refund.
How do I stand on this legally as I now feel bloody annoyed ?0 -

Legally you don't really stand anywhere. Your best bet is to politely phone Customer services who will do one of two things - Give you a money card with what you're entitled or refuse.
If they refuse you can then e-mail the CEO office (search thread for address) and see if they will help.
If they refuse (this has happened to a couple of us on this thread and forum) then your last recourse is Trading Standards. No matter what Mr T says, it doesn't matter even if you target it, he has a policy in place and if he chooses not to he is breaking the law.
It is up to you whether you then pursue this as it raises your profile.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Thanks for the input.
I phoned tesco CS and a very polite gentleman informed that it is tesco policy and that no manager has the right or grounds to refuse DTD.
I was up front with him from the start and told him that I knew the product was incorrectly labelled and he still said that it doesn't matter as it was their error.
He, apparently, spent a long time on the phone to that particular branch and he did say that he had been told by the deputy manager that he was reluctant to give DTD. The store has been referred to their business support team !! (whatever that means)
The CS staff at the time was very rude and aggressive and even felt the need to have the security guard present when she was talking to me.
The highlight of the incident was when she said that the SEL was in fact correct and that she had taken pictures of it (although she didn't show me those pictures). The look on her face when I showed her the photo I had taken of the incorrect label with my phone was priceless.
I would urge everyone to stand their ground and not be bullied by these alledged "customer service" staff.
I did get an apology from the guy on the phone and the promise of a £15 gift card in the post.
Needless to say I visited other branches that day and have quite a few bottles of wine stored up for Christmas presents !0 -

I'm glad it went your way in the end. Please be advised though that you got a good person on the phone. I three times got bad people and in the end, even the CEO's office refused to budge as they said I targeted the policy. They are adamant it is the store managers discretion. With your profile raised, I'd go careful in that store.
Well done :rotfl::TI am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I will give that branch a couple of weeks rest. The wife went in on Tuesday morning (toiletries change over day) and she said that there were loads of staff changing labels. I guess they've had a kick up the pants !!!0 -
I'm new to this money saving stuff and saw today in T's some Ariel on offer with the SEL saying offer expired yesterday but was disappointed to find it scanned through at the offer price
Couldn't find the in store scanner either to check.
Will wait for posts before trying next time as can't afford to keep trying.0 -
Managed to purchase some Rawnsley Rose wine today at my local Mr T. SEL was halfprice at £5.99 - scanned through at £10.99. DTD no quibble but only after I was told that they would have to get the Duty Manager to confirm it as its me they're dealing with! Excuse me! Perhaps if the staff checked the OOD SELs then, I wouldn't have to purchase items and ask for DTD!!!
Was most interesed to see on my receipt wine discount up to 25% instead of the usual 5%. CS and the duty manager didn't see that!:j

ps can't understand why the red and white Rawnsley wine is half price but the Rose isn't!0 -

How can you be sure something will go through at full price when the SELs are OOD, as I said before I thought I was going to get DTD on something but it scanned through as the offer said0 -

Take it to a scanner to check, or the self scan tills. Or check Tesco website on your phone whilst in store.
Scanners are usually hidden, broken, disconnected or other. You'll be lucky to find one that works - usually in clothing department. Failing that ask some unsuspecting employee from another department to scan item, pretending there's only that one left on the shelf, or you forgot to bring your glasses, whatever!
