Hi guys, first grabbit so go easy...
Just been to tesco and picked up some krispy kreme doughnuts, they have a new offer for any 3 for 3.70, so we got three but the discount didnt come off at the till! Went to customer services and was given DTD of £4.85, so they paid me about 20p to take them away!

    Hope this helps somebody!

Just trying to understand how they worked out the DTD, because if you were supposed to pay £3.70 and they gave you £4.85 DTD then they must have originally charged you more than 6 quid for 3 donuts?

Picke up another Philips Epilator tonight HP6509/01, ood label said £27.00 charged £55.97, so DTD of £57.94, not quite as good as the braun shaver above, but "Every Little Helps":rotfl:

Can you do that!? and claim DTD on all of them?

Yes. The CS lady wasn't happy but she made no attempt to avoid giving me DTD. Some staff will try it on and not offer it or even offer to refund you and sell it back to you at the lower price.

I even had one guy insist that "the system wouldn't let him do it for more than item".just say you want to see the duty manager about it, that seems to make the system work fine !!!

Why don't people just empty the entire shelf onto their trolley with every DTD mentioned on this thread then?

As someone who has utilised it for many years there are a couple of reasons (a) you will get banned from stores if you take the mickey. This has happened to people and (b) they will withdraw the policy. This also happened before when the possible was R&R - refund and replace. if you were overcharged by any amount (even a penny) you would get a full refund of what you paid and you got to keep the item. However, it was abused by some clearing shelves of X-boxes that it was changed to DTD

Tesco wouldn't have had to give away X-boxes if they had got to grips with the basic practice (which is prescribed by law) of charging customers the price that is stated on the shelf. They abandoned R&R because they conceded that this was a challenge too far for them, which I find quite a damning indictment of their integrity as a retailer.

I can assure you that the amount of money lost by Tesco to people like myself who availed ourselves of free X-boxes is a tiny drop in the ocean compared to the millions of pounds in "black profit" that Tesco continues to make through charging more at the till than the price stated on the shelf, and multibuys failing to trigger at the till.

Tesco have continually shunned the idea of a modest investment in electronic SELs which would have almost eliminated the problem overnight. You will find these systems in place in most major continental supermarket chains, because the enforcement of pricing integrity by the authorities is much more stringent than in Britain where it is practically non-existent.

It is the same old same old.... those who abused the R&R, took the mickey, went way OTT (whatever you want to call it) always use this excuse but ultimately it was the big hitting pee takers who caused the end of this fantastic policy. Yes they should have got the prices right, but the occasional innocent looking shopper getting a freebie was what it was intended for. But no, people had to get greedy and clear shelves, then when managers and staff jump up and down to HQ about it they scrapped it. Why couldn't people just slide away quietly with an xbox or a TV and then slide away to another store quietly. No they had to completely take the pee and get the policy stopped.

Yes if Tesco got their prices right they wouldn't have to have such a policy but it is good for us that they haven't. It was better for us previously, but oh no you and you ilk killed it. Thanks a lot
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused

Also, I don't see how a DTD payment could ever be an odd number - since it's always (difference x 2).
