How much electricity do you use in a day?

I can only compare with my own - mine is a candy about 5ft high and uses just under 1 kWh / day. Might be a reasonable amount if you have a large chest freezer and haven't defrosted it for a while but other wise 9 units sounds quite a lot compared to my fridge.
What kind of fridge is it?
Outdoor lighting or spare fridge might be a possibility. Anything on a timer?0 -

No its just an old fridge freezer about 5 foot. Only other thing on was an energy light bulb.
Usual usage when we are at home is about 9 a day. How people get by on 5 I really dont know. Any ideas on where I could cut back usage apart from fridge freezer.0 -
was there nothing else on - sky, clock on cooker/microwave, alarm, security lights maybe coming on?
Mine at the minute is about 12 a day - ive really economised as much as i can so until i change the halogen lights in kitchen and bathroom i cant get it any lower0 -
I've been reading mine for the past two months and it's around 4.5 and 5 a day.I do have all new applianes so I think that helps.I don't use energy saving light bulbs I'm ashamed to say as I just don't find them bright enough, but I do have everything turned off.Nothing is left on stand-by apart from the cooker as it's too complicated to sort out everytime.
I have managed to undercut by usage by over half compared to this time last year so I'm realy pleased.0 -

Whist we were away the only thing on was one energy buld and fridgefreezer. No alarm no cooker, no sky nothing at all.
Thats really good. I dont know how your doing that. Ive used 2 units since this morning bout 7am. Telly has been on for around 2.5 hours in that time and just fridge freezer and Ive hooved. Everything else is turned off apart from pump on the new boiler.
What Tv do you have? We have a Plasma which I believe use quite a bit.0 -
Does anyone know how the people only using 5-6 units a day are doing it?
I cannot get dwn below 7 and that only on a day I dont do any washing.0 -
7 units a day here but that includes hot water through an immersion heater when required .

6 units average a day for us but can be up to 10 at weekends if the oven is used (oven/hob is electric). I bought an Efergy monitor a few weeks ago so makes it a bit easier to keep track. 'Idle' running is about 90W and that includes a laptop running as a server in the loft. The fridge uses most of the 6kWh during the day I think - it runs at about 200W when the pump is going. I'd love a gas cooker but can't justify it just to get the 'leccy usage down a few units0

If your fridge freezer is old then it will be nothing like as efficient as a new one. If may even be more cost effective to buy a new one with the future energy savings you will make.0 -

Is it an old fridge? Mine is an upright fridge freezer. I recken its using about 2.8kWh a day. It's quite old, but still works really well.
I'd priced up to change it and worked out it would take around 3 years to pay for itself. I've decided to keep it.
I think a lot of new electrical goods dont seem to last very long. I may buy one for it to only last about 5 years.0
