what is the price per unit on your bill?
You might need to add a standing charge, if you have one
    And then 8% tax
It's been warm the past few days too - has your heating usage changed?

  • I used 541 units between 07/02/07 and 07/03/07. First 130 units at 15.94 then 411 at 8.250 plus 5% vat and we have gas radiators so cant see why we used so much. I have only just changed suppliers after bills of £100.00 a month but beginning to think i just use alot of electricity. Thanks Sue x

I am now thinking the same, i have been taking readings and done exactly what i normally would do. My readings are coming out less then 15 a day. Yestreday was 12, the day before was 7 and today so far in 14 hours i have used 7 units but i have used the tumble dryer for over an hour. I am taking readings as soon as the tumble dryer finishes and also when i have finished cooking to see if i have a faulty electrical appliance. Nowi am really confused about it all, and how i have managed to use almost 4500units in 5 months is beyond me!!!:o

At least its not just me then, hoping to get that when I put readings in at the end of the month that its a lot lower that the previous month, so far its averaged out at 40% less, so here's hoping it keeps that way or hopefully even lower.

Looks like over the last 2 weeks our Electricity usage has averaged out at just over 8 units per day, which is much better than last months 14 units per day average (no idea how it got that high) and the gas readings are lower as well. Going to keep an eye on both and am hoping to get electric down to 5 units per day average if I can.
  • Yesterday I used 14 units and I was out all day!! I dont understand it as I didnt use the washing machine and I didnt cook!!

Thats not good, has anything been left on? We managed to get ours down to 4 units yesterday. Its great but only if we can keep it up.

My Husband has been reading his PC Mag and it says something about some software you can install on your PC. That helps even out the power usage. Has anyone heard of this? Is it any good? Does it actually lower the power usage of the PC?
  • Nothing was left on as far as I know. I seem to generally use 14 units a day no matter what I do.

It's the fridge/freezer (or immersion heater if you have one), assuming you've left nothing else on.
  • Think it must be - I have to admit to having my hot water on permantly but have tries with using the timer and been left short. Will have to have another go I think - thanks tr3mor.
  • I've just checked our consumption and it comes out at about 10 units per day. I reckon about half of this is down to the electric shower!
