How much electricity do you use in a day?

we've knocked 6 units per day off our usage by turning the immersion on for an hour morning and afternoon rather than leaving it on all the time. our timer arrived this morning, so dh will rig that in today (I tend to put the water on and then forget for 1 1/2 hours or so).
Also, have taken 2 or more units per night off by switching EVERYTHING off except the fridge and freezer (computers off at the wall, router etc).
So, we're significantly cutting down our costs and I'm very pleased with that. I was making porrage overnight in the slowcooker, but this has proved to be false economy - it's cheaper to cook it on the hob in the morning (we don't have a microwave).
So, we're now down to around 14-15 units per day for an all electric household with 2 of us working on computers here 24/7. The only other thing we are doing this year is replacing our cooker and I think this might make a difference to a couple of units a day as well...........
There are still a couple of areas where we could switch to energy saver bulbs as well, but other than that I can't think of other areas to save.
I'm pleased with what we have achieved though and it's been a really interesting and useful exercise

Quite shocked to see that based on last years readings we used more than the national average, when there are only 2 of us in a small 3 bedroom semi detached starter home, with Gas Central heating and Hot water, no tumble dryer, dishwasher or electric shower, and all lights except kitchen have energy saving bulbs. The daily readings I've taken over the last 5 days son't seem to account for our previous usage, so we must have some spikes somewhere.
I am now thinking the same, i have been taking readings and done exactly what i normally would do. My readings are coming out less then 15 a day. Yestreday was 12, the day before was 7 and today so far in 14 hours i have used 7 units but i have used the tumble dryer for over an hour. I am taking readings as soon as the tumble dryer finishes and also when i have finished cooking to see if i have a faulty electrical appliance. Nowi am really confused about it all, and how i have managed to use almost 4500units in 5 months is beyond me!!!:oYou can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

Electric is one of my big things at the mo. Iv got it down to 4.5 units a day. When he works away in the eveing i sit in the dark (told u i was getting obsessive lol0

hello, i think my household is a very bad example of energy consumption. my hot water suddenly stopped working one day in last november/december, we checked everything switched onoff and still not working, so tried to leave it on continue and it works again. then i remember a couple of colleagues told me they have been leaving their heat/hot water on constant and the bills are lower than on a timer. so i think i may give it a go and try for myself. the last 3 months were very cold and we have enjoyed a warm house with hot water 24/7, very comfy.
however, just received a bill and it was 3 times higher than the last bills when heating was on a timer. i have no complaint as it was my decision to leave them on constant. but i think i can share this experience with others.

I worked out the biggest user of our electric was our plasma tv. My OH never turns it off. I come the house no ones in and he's left tv on again (playing away to itself). Him working away has saved a fortune lol0 -
I forgot to read after 24 hours but over the past 3 days have used 31 units. Which I think is not bad so why is my monthly bill £60.00? i am right in thinking this is alot?0
