Just returned from a factory tour of Bentley in Crewe with bro-in-law from Canada. He loves his Rolls Royce but I wasn't about to take him down south to the Rolls factory. Bentley is close enough in my book.
I have to say "what a superb example of craftmanship and high tech precision". I think the phrase "world class" is over used, but in this case it is definitely apt. It makes you proud that this is a British company (err, sort of).

There are 2 insolvency sums but the one pertinent to your post is:
Assets - Liabilities = Equity
If Equity < 0 then the company is insolvent
BUT
The insolvent company will have to bring in insolvency practitioners who will look to sell the company on as a going concern but without the debt. If that has happened you need to know if you are dealing with Old Co or New Co.0 -
Brrrr. I think I might light the woodburner. It's bitterly cold here.0

It will be warmer here in an hour or so, I lit the thing.
Dh and I have the house to ourselves. We were going to see curly dog, taking big dog and dog dog in the car too, but as the weather seems pants and I don't trust the car to go on a long trip with the four of us in it, we are visiting curly dog next week instead.
So tomorrow we will get a coat of emulsion on the dry walls.. I don't think the paint I chose for the down stairs loo is right, so I am trying to convince myself it's right for the little hallway/internal utility area and wondering what to try in the loo instead.

But they could dig their way out if they can sell the assets at a profit or sell the goodwill of the company.
In OHs work they often meet this problem where if they refuse more credit the company has no chance of making any money to pay back the original debt. PasturesNew wrote: »No new company noticeable. When people are running websites/stores online these days it can be easier to spot a new company as those things would, probably, have had to change... but it's all running the same it ever was.
Edit: Just checked the website address and the company name on there isn't a Ltd, it's just a company name. Maybe that is what happened.
Edit 2: Cheques to be made out to Ltd company though ....
A company that is in liquidation rather than administration shouldn't be trading as far as I understand- it could, however be in voluntary liquidation but probably not based on the figures you posted, although theoretically all of the liabilities could be owed to the owner of the business in which case it may not be as risky as it looks.
Whatever the score, if you are thinking of buying something from tem then only hand over money in exchange for the product. If they want you to do work for them then ask for money upfront and walk away if they won't pay it. Not worth the risk.0 -
