Some bloke from industry came to give us all a lecture at uni many moons ago.

He basically said it didn't matter so much what your product was, but that it should :-
    - cost about £2K
    - be small enough to transport in the boot of a car
    - be easy enough to demonstrate on site in half an hour

I found it quite bizarre, but he knows best..so...I'm still looking for this magical product ;)
I am a firm believer in products being small, lightweight and foolproof.

You're probably not up to speed with my ideas, but, before my annus horribilis hit me I had started silversmithing and similar stuff. It all went on hold while I did the Flo Nightingale stuff.... and now I've moved I've not got space for a workshop.... but I need to start getting into making stuff that's achievable on a laptray :)

I think Pastures New is quite a conjuring up kind of description. Bit touchy feely and that :)

Spent the morning at fracture clinic with DS. He broke his hand playing rugby. Open morning at Old Swinford on Saturday - they'll remember him I guess! :)

    LOL, I wish.

Electrically opening Velux windows, now they are the posh ones ;)

At the time it seemed a foolish extravagance but now we really wish we had made one of our three velux electrically operated.
    I think....

That's the sound of Australia, rain falling on a metal roof. I've come to love it.
We will come to love it too, when most Brits find themselves living in a Caravan following "Crash 2".

I was lying in bed, in the dark, last night, listening to the rain on the roof and thinking how it reminded me of childhood holidays when we'd be lying in the caravan at night hearing the relentless rain battering the caravan roof :)

Silver, you are so much better off where you are. The weather forecast was hopelessly optimistic, and our succah is already soaked through.

    Same every year.

Though I must say it is windy here and I'm not sure all the succah's around will stand the gusts. Some perched on the edge of penthouse balconies look dodgy. Apparently it rained in some parts here last night and exposed wiring (for the lights) and rain don't mix well.

I should add we have been eating indoors or on our relatively sheltered balcony, admiring from afar.

Thanks for the "get well" wishes. I am feeling a lot less ill, and have been to work today, but I have almost no voice at all. It makes life very interesting. I open my mouth to talk but have no idea what kind of sound (if any) will come out. :rotfl:

GDB, I hope your succah dries out quickly. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

It would have been if they'd been on a site; the norm was a leaky-roofed ancient van, in the corner of a farmer's field .... with a small wooden hut next to it containing the chemical toilet. No electricity, gas mantels.... no telly ... and usually just us.

Oh, sorry you're poorly Lydia, I've missed everything, as usual. I hope the kids aren't taking advantage of your lack of voice!
