London was fab. I did have a good time, bought a beautiful bag from the sunday upmarket. I do remember that I get car sick on coaches though.

I am so getting you to help with horse colour genetics when needed. Chocolate on me.

You can build one on a suitable balcony, if you don't have a garden. If you don't have a balcony or a garden, you can go and use a friend's. If you don't have a balcony, a garden, or a friend with a sukkah, you're stuffed. :)

If you have a shared or communal garden you can build it on that.
In Israel people build them anywhere near there home if that is the nearest suitable place, I guess the authorities are more understanding, but being they are only temporary you wouldn't need to worry about planning regs or authorities getting around to dismantling.

Apparently balconies need to have the view of the sky above to be deemed suitable, so most wouldn't qualify.

Silver, you are so much better off where you are. The weather forecast was hopelessly optimistic, and our succah is already soaked through.

Some blocks of flats deliberately stagger the balconies.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Most flats don't have balconies; it's only when you go up in price that they start putting them on.

Maybe there's a business opportunity for somebody with a big garden to rent out spaces 5' square for this. :)

It's raining here. Big drops. I have two Velux' and I am sitting underneath one looking up at a grey sky, treetops ... and seeing the rain fall.

bad start to the week off - boiler repair was supposed to be done by 9am, he's still here which means that i can't do either of the things that i want to (sleep, or go to the supermarket and buy the necessary building blocks for the 15 sandwiches i'll be eating over the course of the next 4-5 hours).

it is raining here too. a steady, relentless drizzle.

I have 2 Velux in the lounge, and the largest one I could get in the kitchen. Personally I think they are great. They bring in so much light. We have solar powered electric blinds on them to stop direct sunlight fading the floor.

Before they were fitted a friend warned us we wouldn't be able to hear the tv because of the noise coming from heavy rain hitting the windows. That turned out to be hogwash.

It seems that little invention, the 'volume control', solves any rain noise issue ;)

I would rather listen to rain than anything else tbh.

We have no veluxes though, and opted not to put them in (they seem to call them something else when you are putting them in a listed house, a someting light' not a roof light. History light or something. Anyway, we decided not to....we like our plain rooves. We have a loggia where the rain falls on corrugated iron, I love that. Longer term we will have glass there, which will also make a nice noise.

I thought installing a modern boiler was going to be very MSE, but I suspect all that happens is you transfer repair costs into annual service costs. The heating engineer still gets his BMW money ;)
