First properly candle lit evening of the year.....where its light not a frippary.

I don't expect to hold of daily use f the wood burner if it stays like either. I have never been more read to welcome a boiler, albeit one that needs some regular attention.

    Or maybe this version's better!

haha, this literally made me laugh out loud I am going to practice now....:rotfl:

Maybe I should get my 2 year old to learn it, I was really impressed today she said " Butterfly " a three syllable word, and then she said "umbrella " and I thought now you are just showing off. And she will count, but she counts in the wrong order so she will say " 4, 10, 7, 6 " . She is giving it a go though..

I was thinking a lot about what you said about the travelling thing, and I am definately a lot more open minded to it now, I was worried that I may be affecting her in some way if I ever decided to go for it but she seems very receptive to learning new things, only time will tell etc.

My university application has now gone off, and I have applied for 4/5 Russell Group unis and I can honestly say I am brickin it and keep thinking " Why oh why did I go for the high risk strategy " (midwifery is over subscribed) and that people like me don't get to go to universities like that and I should have lowered my expectations but then I do meet the requirements...

    Peoplelike you?

    People with hearts, lungs, skin?

People with limbs and a head?:D

Seriously....people get where they get, some get further than they would have done were their skills greater but their ambition less and vice versa.

Dh got a great job in a place they like fresh law grads, not older chaps with non law degrees and previous careers. It was good luck to have a particular chain of events happen, pure luck, and then to be recognised by the right people and having the huevos to ditch the lesser offer already secured and delay career further. By the book, he was wasting his time applying for them.

You'll get a place....or not, and then you can reqpply or make a decision based on information at that time

You have as much chance as the next person unless you have some grecious issue to tackle! Plus you have......experience of childbirth, maturity behind your career choice, experience in hospitals and hospital environment. At interview you have a lot of strengths to flag up, don't ya think? :)

Russell Group usually presume that an application in before mid October means you have also applied to Oxbridge, though I'm not sure that applies to midwifery.

I'm sure you will be fine.

You are all making me chuckle tonight, thank you. I know what I said sounds silly, I think its just my insecurities about the whole thing. Thank you for the encouragement LIR and silvercar.

Oxbridge?! I wish! (if only they did my course):rotfl: I didn't set my sights that high, but I have got Kings and Manchester amongst my choices and when I visited the first one, I really was in awe of the place. It's recommended you get your application in early for my course as they do interviews and they do it as they go along, the way they conduct these interviews/selection days can be very X-factor style. I will have maths, essays, group discussion, 1-2-1 and maybe even presentations to do, and if you don't pass the maths and essay then you will go with the other people who failed the tests in one room, and the others that make it go to another, and then they will tell you your fate. All very stressful for the participant, but it is absolutely essential as they are trying to minimise the amount of people that can't do basic maths slip through the net. Apparently, there has been a lot of drug calculation errors in recent years within the NHS and also they have had people with high level qualifications, show that they can't write full sentences, use capital letters where necessary and punctuate properly.

Used to swim competitively at school etc., never quite made nationals. Son was a competitive swimmer for years, has now given up but I have not been allowed to leave the swimming club. They seem to think I'm useful.
Should really start swimming again I know!
It's something I felt 'forced' to do; sibling's the one big on it .... I was never an award winner :) just some basic ASA awards and a couple of cups in the 70s. Sibling's still fiercely/successfully achieving. I'd rather sit and self-harm than join a club.

Swam for about 4 clubs and every age-group possible for the school. Hated it .....

There are glass 'rattlers' you can buy ... bung them in the saucepan and they rattle when it starts bubbling.

Or .... techie answer would be to set up a webcam and watch it on the telly :)

If you meet the requirements you've got just as much right as anyone too apply. Good Luck with the application
