Nice peeps, I have news from jelly. He is still not great which means he won't be back for a while - either posting or trawling through the thread - but says a big hello to everyone.
    I think....

My love to jelly too. So sorry to hear things are still so tough for him. :(
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

My best wishes for Jelly too xx
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

You are all making me chuckle tonight, thank you. I know what I said sounds silly, I think its just my insecurities about the whole thing. Thank you for the encouragement LIR and silvercar.

Oxbridge?! I wish! (if only they did my course):rotfl: I didn't set my sights that high, but I have got Kings and Manchester amongst my choices and when I visited the first one, I really was in awe of the place. It's recommended you get your application in early for my course as they do interviews and they do it as they go along, the way they conduct these interviews/selection days can be very X-factor style. I will have maths, essays, group discussion, 1-2-1 and maybe even presentations to do, and if you don't pass the maths and essay then you will go with the other people who failed the tests in one room, and the others that make it go to another, and then they will tell you your fate. All very stressful for the participant, but it is absolutely essential as they are trying to minimise the amount of people that can't do basic maths slip through the net. Apparently, there has been a lot of drug calculation errors in recent years within the NHS and also they have had people with high level qualifications, show that they can't write full sentences, use capital letters where necessary and punctuate properly.

Sounds really scary. Neither son had a single interview. They got their offers based on UCAS form/ predictions/ exam results.

I would have thought your A* in maths means you don't need to worry about that part.

My university application has now gone off, and I have applied for 4/5 Russell Group unis and I can honestly say I am brickin it and keep thinking " Why oh why did I go for the high risk strategy " (midwifery is over subscribed) and that people like me don't get to go to universities like that and I should have lowered my expectations but then I do meet the requirements...

I stand by what I said in that earlier thread about applying around the country and wish you the best of luck in the application; I'm sure you don't need luck!

You don't have any exams to take this year do you, so you may get an offer earlier than some others; I certainly hope so.

    ;)

Lydia and Viva are most welcome to come and work in the legal department. I'm putting Lydia in charge as she has the skills to keep the rest of you in line and make sure there's no slacking off whilst I'm off playing golf.

Excuse me, mister. I didn't put you in charge of the legal department for you to hire lovely NP ladies while faffing around and playing golf.
We'll discuss this in our next one-to-one.

i'm off for lunch now, i'll be back at 4.30pm.
