This programme is following how the 1950s was when people started to have modern kitchens and gadgets, Income tax fell in the 1950s from 9 shillings in the pound, to 7 (that's 45% down to 35%).
They showed food mixers - do you know, I've never had/used a food mixer.... nor a food processor.
They're now showing a washboard and mangle. We had a separate tub washing machine and spinner.... but I remember my friend's mum was still using a washboard and mangle in 1968... mangle was in the garden.0 -
