No, summer was in March this year, didn't you notice it? 2 weeks of lovely warm weather. (It was in April last year, usually it falls in April or May). There is always a late summer as well, usually falling in mid-October, although last year it was in November, I think. It just rains during the intervening period.

Wow, I’m special, I live in the country with 2 summers :D

N.B, can’t wait to go home this summer to the Batumi beaches....35 degree heat and no rain :D

good tip, I'll remember to leave my wallet at home!

well actually i won't have any choice in that matter as i left it in a taxi on monday night, and none of my cards will be reissued until after the wedding. i wonder if the £40 i've got in cash will cover all eventualities, including my train ticket....?

Surely there is a way you can pass the blame for this...?!

Maybe the gf called him as he was getting out? Or distracted him. Or breathed.

This programme is following how the 1950s was when people started to have modern kitchens and gadgets, Income tax fell in the 1950s from 9 shillings in the pound, to 7 (that's 45% down to 35%).

They showed food mixers - do you know, I've never had/used a food mixer.... nor a food processor.

They're now showing a washboard and mangle. We had a separate tub washing machine and spinner.... but I remember my friend's mum was still using a washboard and mangle in 1968... mangle was in the garden.

I have a friend who uses a deep fat fryer in the garden to avoid smells in her kitchen!

A little something for Pastures, but particularly Single Sue as I think her youngest will get a kick out of it. The Economist Schumpeter column on why businesses need aspies, dyslexics and people with ADHD:

On the weather front, I am just grateful that the time I was recovering from my op the weather was nice and I could sit out in the garden.
