Yee gads, hire doozer as designer not me. Kicking myself i forgot to send a paint chart for the brand of paint we are using for the outside windows (guaranteed for ten years apparantly, thats good, aprt from of course we need to get the colour right for that long too).
We are buying paint next week! How amazing it that! The plasterer seems to have done a really, realy nice job. Its all soft and blurred on the corners just like i wanted, giving it a soft, pillowy, bosom-y feel.0 -
I would hire all of you.
LIR as office designer, michaels as senior buyer, chewie heads up the legal dept, sss555s to do the accounts, PN to run the website and Nikkster to make sure the mucous membranes of all staff are correctly looked after. Notsosinglesue can come and go when she wants.
I'm unemployed :eek:0 -

So, I moved onwards and upwards and that's when I got into the whole IT thing .... trouble is, now I've moved regions, it appears that there are a number of PA roles round these parts that pay higher than the IT jobs I am spotting/could do ..... so, keen to 'reverse' and go for those, except people can be blinkered and wonder why I'd want to be "just a PA" when I have "all this good IT stuff" on the CV .... MONEY - that's why..... because PA work is easier than IT work and pays more money. Only a chimp wouldn't see that..... and, imho, it's all the same skills - just one's got a whole raft of technical competency bolted on.
It's possible. The current PA for boss and ergo, she looks after all of us as well, was a PA, moved on did some stuff, stopped work and started back by temping as a PA and then got kept on for contracts and now she's in a permanent post for us. Just be clear that you are looking for a post to return to working life and it's something that you can do.0 -
Yes, of course.
N.B. For opinions on Employment Agencies see thread about Estate Agents.
All EA's are unqualified morons
For once I can legitimately say "Amen to that, Brother".
In freelance IT you have to deal with these 'Recruitment Consultants' rather more than you would like to.
I remember a contract role a while back asking for version 7.6 of a particular software tool. This tool usually costs 6 figure sums, so it's not exactly something many come across.
Anyway the conversation with the agent goes like this :
Agent : "They are looking for experience with version 7.6 of XYZ"
Me : "Well, I have used 7.4 version recently, pretty extensively"
Agent : "Oh, well they need 7.6 really. I'm sorry"
Me : "Has it changed much then? New box colour, new features, something else? ..."
Agent : "Oh, no idea. I've never even seen it !"
Me : frustration vent mode.

7.6 uses a virtual cloud to distribute the packets, whereas 7.4 was using a Citrix variation which relied more heavily on the client package.
7.6b is now fully compatible with SQL Server too, vX.Y of course.... so you'd need to be up to speed on that, even though it was only launched last week.
7.6 is, of course, leaner and faster, with more plugin functionality available for global ecommerce outsourcing and supply chains integration.
So you obviously wouldn't be up to the job if you didn't know those little differences
I remember when recruiters used to ask for daft stuff like "5 years' experience of ... Windows 95" when it was only 1997.0 -
PN, I think in version 7.6 they fixed some of the 'features' (read as bugs) which they promised to fix in 7.1; tried to fix in 7.2 but failed; backed them out unsuccessfully in 7.3; implemented a patch for the partially backed out code in 7.4; and tried to cover their tracks in 7.5.
It's lucky I'm not a cynical type0 -

Pasty supper imminent.... did a "Lidl run" earlier... well, it started as a Tesco run, then at the checkout I realised I'd forgotten bread, so did a Lidl run too .... picking up some bread, sweeties, cheesecakes, big jar of coffee, cheese .... and a pack of 3 pasties
I needed the bread to try out that gizmo I bought 2 weeks ago .... stovetop toasties.0 -
Thanks, I know where it starts, it is in the flow not the return and I. Have tried switching off all the dad's except the one immediately after that point but to no avail. The builder should sort it hence my not wanting to pay for a plumber but of course they never turn up.
