    Yes, of course.

N.B. For opinions on Employment Agencies see thread about Estate Agents.

All EA's are unqualified morons

See also car 'sales' people. Having never gone car shopping before today, I would have thought they would be all over us as soon as we walked onto the forecourt. Most places we practically had to beg for someone to talk to us.

I used to be able to do mental maths quicker than a calculator ... and win free drinks in the pub for doing so .... but I lost that ability when I was about 21-22.

I count everything .... not really a talent.... but everything has to be counted, all the time. Everything from the number of bricks between windows on buildings, to the number of branches in trees, to the number of seconds between cars passing, to ... well, everything :)

So no .... my 'talents' are just very annoying things nowadays.... and, everything is a system. There has to be a system for everything and it has to be followed. Although not everything in the system has to be done "now"..... thank goodness.... so, e.g. washing up has to be done in a very particular way, but there are two dishes beside me that have been there 1-2 hours ..... but once done they'll be done in "the way".

Everything I do, I try to optimise.... making every action into a countable process. Even walking down a street, if there's a bend in the road, I like to take the straight route across the road... then mentally calculate how many steps I think I've saved.

    P.S. I'm not a loon.... I don't twitch :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I am a loon and do twitch. :)

Edit. I am getting some old cramps back. These mainly make me laugh as they seem minor enough atm, not too bad in legs and back, but hilariously, rather keen on striking on my big toes. My toes move away from the rest of the foot and it makes me roar with laughter, whcih seems to make the cramp last longer.

:( I need to go car shopping soon. I might put it off for as long as possible but as soon as car needs to go in, it needs to go :(

I've started having some bizarre ones, when gripping small items in my 'hobby'. Hands distort and fold in on themselves... probably usually the thumb and next finger, which go straight/rigid, then it hurts and it looks odd for about 30 seconds or so. Freaks out those around me, but I know it's just a cramp.... it's why I can only work on pieces of a certain size; nothing minute and fiddly.

    Me too :(

IRL my hours have gone up a bit since last term. It's a bit more money and a LOT more work. Well, a bit more in the classroom, a lot more marking and preparation, but no increase in report writing, which is one thing to be thankful for.

    Application in....now the waiting starts.

Re housing benefit and not telling them of the small changes, I could never ever do that, I just wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Hence why a job which would allow me to still claim housing benefit would give me nightmares......I like a bit of overtime from time to time (and in my old sector, that was a common occurance, even during the last recession!)

I couldn't do that either. How much does it take to get over the limit for HB and CTB? And how many hours a week would that entail in your line of work, if that's not too personal a question?

It's possible. The current PA for boss and ergo, she looks after all of us as well, was a PA, moved on did some stuff, stopped work and started back by temping as a PA and then got kept on for contracts and now she's in a permanent post for us. Just be clear that you are looking for a post to return to working life and it's something that you can do.

PN, are there any temp agencies that you could do temp PA work through? That might get your foot in the door of a few places where you might get taken on more permanently, and in the meantime you'd be earning at least a bit of dosh. Or would that really not work for reasons I'm not aware of?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

There are, but firstly I was going to look for IT work..... before doing the agency/temping thing; else you get trapped into temping and forget to get round to looking for "a proper job" as you start by doing a few days, then a week, then suddenly they're on the phone with a 3-6 month temp job and you feel a bit bad at the potential of leaving after 2-3 weeks, IYSWIM.

Keep up the research and wear him down with the fabulous place you find to rent at an amazing price? :)

It must be really difficult trying to keep up not only with 'now' but 'next' too. ESP when now has been so busy. The overlap - I guess its not easy when now has such a strong identity, but I'm sure you will work it out :)

Funny thing is we have contact with a lot of people who have known our various looks over the past 25 years and the one we are currently known for is just one of several (all quite different in their time) we have created.....it's just this one got sold on an online retailer and then just 'went mental' so to speak plus the internet identified us as the creators.

Years ago the High St scouts cleaned up with micro labels like ours, taking then core ceative look and spinning it into the mainstream (and making the bulk of the £££).

New people we meet have no idea of our past (and we don't have any 'abouts' online anywhere through choice partly because it's not relevant to the current customer base and partly becasue it makes me sound about 105).

The problem is we are on a radar now so if we do something totally new under the current label it will 1; look a bit odd as 'out of signature' and 2; be swiped before we can develop it....well, that is if it is any good.

Fortunately, the new thing I want to do isn't anything like the current so it will go under a new label and we'll take it from the start again and see what happens. Ultimately, it's the customer who will decide if it goes anywhere or not. I just have to reach them and offer it out there.:)

    Opinions please. :)

Presuming i am back on an even keel in a few weeks i think i will be kicking myself if i have not stood.

Stand and then decide of chosen. I am leaning towards a Yes and if you then feel unable to do it, resign and let the 2nd person takeover. I am sure they wouldn't mind.

Looking round at jobs, if I had my own house here I'd probably about now be thinking "!!!! it - set up a typing/admin service business". Can't do that as a lodger though.

Buying a house now could solve 2 problems at once. Place to live = happy PN + place to work from =job sorted.
