Tyres blown up ... front wheel nuts tightened to hand tight - it felt OK, so I took it to the end of the road.... then down to the beach (it fooled me as it started with a slope, then round the corner were 80 steps so I carried it down).... and off I went...... eventually came back because I'd been there and back ..... and my feet were hurting.
I just meticulously plotted my route on an online pedometer.... and it appears I've done 17 miles. No wonder my bl00dy feet hurt! That's quite a few pedal pushes.
I stopped and picked/ate some blackberries at one point too. I did end up here: http://www.lymington.org/beach/mudefordsandbank.html

Housing solution = beach hut
The ones where I ended up don't have any road access, so they're mostly boat owners who sail round, hitch up then use their huts. Nothing's cheap because there are a lot of people with oodles of money prepared to trump you to most things these days.0 -
We have a cleaner in our shared house. I don't really see the point, as if we all set aside an hour every fortnight and all did it the house would easily be just as clean, and we'd save a tenner a month each.
I offered to clean it all myself, if they paid me, but that didn't go down too well. Apparently they're happy to pay a stranger, but not me! And I've done cleaning as a job, got an NVQ to prove it
I could see the point if we were all well off, and didn't have the time to do it, and the cost of having a cleaner was worth it for the extra time it would free up. But under the circumstances that really isn't the case and it feels like a waste“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

How many of you are there that an hour a fortnight would do it all?
Tbh, housework is one of those things that if one wanted it to could be a ft job. I don't want it to, but i could, when kess crook, work four fast hours a day and still see stuff to do.
I have been meaning to/putting off cleaning my front door since June. I am not meant to bed over so bottom bot will be a problem, but its just got to be done.0 -
Well there are four of us, and it's just the communal areas that we pay to have cleaned, so kitchen living room, bathroom and hall.
So it's not a big job at all, plus the kitchen we more or less keep on top of. You could certainly do a lot more with the place, but really the cleaner doesn't; so it doesn't make sense to pay them!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Yes, kitchen and bathroom and hall you could do easily in two hours a week, unless your kitchen is freaky.
Wish you were here, i would pay you for the time. I want a cleaner but cannot justify one. The other thing is, rurally there is less choice, and from the local towns....well, again pool is somewhat self limiting. Some i would be fine with in my home, but i don't want my business all over the local pub and post office ( why not, they can read it all here :rotfl:) and others....i would not have in my home. This summer having someone in to help would have been great.0 -
I rarely do cleaning/housework.... I am a very clean/tidy person, so there's minimal stuff in my wake as I do things as I go along. Other people are messy though - not as careful (OCD) as me about not making a mess in the first place.0

:rotfl: that really cheered me up today!
and yes, we are just waiting to be able to finish the house enough to afford a cleaner. I am not designed for cleaning, just gardening!0 -

Carfeul boasting about gardening skills....i might beg you to come back, with your dh, to do some strimming when the birds have gone.:rotfl:
Tomorrow i hope to take some pictures of the wreck's developments.0 -
Housework is a blue job. So is laundry.....and gardening
There aren't many pink jobs in the Spirit household. My beloved husband does too much. DD is next to useless at housework - I nag, she ignores me or expresses irritation
We let our cleaner go last December when she subcontracted us without our knowledge firstly Mr S found 2 strange and very young girls in our house and and on the next occassion I was surprised whentwo strange ladies who plainly knew the layout of the house let themselves in and started to clean. I made friendly conversation asked them for the key let them finish their work paid them and then rang my cleaner to explain my loss of trust in her. We were not using a contractor - just a regular personally selected cleaner .
Only today however a possible homehelp option has come up and I have discussed it with Mr S who would be very happy if this comes off.0
