I went into M&S today, looked at the food .... came out with two tins of curry and some Coronation Mayo. All three were reduced, probably end of line/stock clearance.... curry was about £1.30 a can, Coro mayo was £1/squeezy 'jar'.
In order to cook food I have to have the exact perfect dish .... and fancy that food. Here, it's not my kitchen, so I have to retrieve specific cooking items from storage first. I know it sounds weird to you non-OCD lot, but if the perfect/right size/shape dish isn't available, then things can't be cooked.... in order to cook that curry I have to either wait for a new microwave to appear, or I have to buy a new saucepan.0 -

I've encountered water chestnuts, occasionally, in a chinese takeaway - and I've seen some tins..... didn't know/think they were things people'd actually want/need to buy.... but you (personally you) do seem to know/use/get a lot of obscure/foreign foods don't you.
I had never had fresh ones before, saw them, thought...they are not too expensive....i'll see what they are like. They are delicious. I am not a fan of tinned 'oriental' veg (or lots of tinned things) as i find they take on the taste of the metal. These were fresh, crunchy, sweet. The nearest thing to the waterchestnut jelly i like in dim sum places. I KNOW a number of Np are far more experienced with this type of food than I am!0 -

It's not really AIDS
But it is proving tenacious.
Are you implying that the NP diagnosis of ringworm was correct?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

PasturesNew wrote: »Well, not sure. The two quacks today, at very close inspection .... said "Well, it's DEFINITELY fungal...." and that's it. So whether it's ringworm or not .... no idea. The other issue is that it's been spreading.... but under the skin and not erupting. You can now add two palms and the other sole to the list... and it looks like the right leg's about to erupt.
Oh what joy!
Are they giving you etc to put on topically, or tablets etc to treat it systemically? Or both?
V sorry to hear it's spread so much. On the plus side, fungal things are usually straightforward to treat, in my (admittedly limited) experience, and don't threaten anything serious. Hope it starts getting better soon.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I've spent the last few months reading a series of (unconnected) novels which all feature doomsday scenarios caused by the EMP shock wave caused by nuclear warheads. I'm starting to get quite paranoid about it now, not least because my kindle would stop working. I think I need to move onto some different subject matter. Like zombie apocalypse.0
