LIR - I am going to stick my nose in here - look away now if you do not want me to care - this is not the right day to be making decisions to decline diagnostics or therapeutic procedures.
Despite all the mess ups, no one is trying to cause you you misery - it is just happening. This is one of those times when you have to 'give it up to your higher power' and then get on with it. Not today, but in a day or two when you can find the resilience or sense of humour to engage with the hospital merry-go-round agin. Contact your Consultant's Med Sec and ask them for help.
Bribing you with a horse is entirely understandable.
I meanwhile have not had the mozzarella as I have had a roll with pork, stuffing, apple sauce and a side order of crackling. Have got dressed and tried to do some work emails. I may regret at least one of them so I have stopped.
I have been reading a lot about the theraputic Value of the lp, and it seems most who have had it are complaining its not helped...though realise that that is because those who are happy don't right about it and just get on with living not carp on a support forum about it. However, most find the pills i am on unbearable, where as i find them 'ok'. Not smarties sure, but ok.
I have agreed to find out if nhs /private place where mother had knees done does lps, because that throws another choice into the mix.
I know they are not trying to cause me misery. God help me if they actually tried :rotfl:. But they are. Atm my quality of like is better than it was say....six weeks ago. Dh spoke to the consultant earlier to ask for options and he was a bit tightlipped, her attitude was apologetic but....little god like.
I really think i want to see the endocrinologist first too. I have been so swept away by this 'urgent, urgent urgent thing, and them saying how important it all is, but that seems not to be the case now. I have not lost vision recently at least.
While typing this they phoned and offered me next week and i said 'no'. I really am not ok with it 'now'. I might be tomorrow, or next week. But i am not now.
Edit: i have just called to get an appt with go, who has been on holiday , and the soonest I can speak to him is next week (backlog of loyal patients) so no chance before the proposed one next week.0 -
i wouldn't want anyone coming near my spine with a ruddy great needle even if they told me i'd win euromillions as a result and get to marry a hollywood a-lister of my choice (although this may be because i am already extremely wealthy as a result of being a hollywood a-lister) so i can quite understand LIR's lack of interest...0

No one would want (well no NP anyway). Sometimes it is just a choice about available alternatives and longer term outcomes.
A sort of oh Gawd not this, anything but this, and then doing it anyway. Sometimes for the sake of others ,who you love even when they wash your documents.0 -

Yeah, i know what you are saying. But its not the lo itself. If i could do it to myself there would be less of an issue. But the core problem is i am not sure its the right thing now, and i feel sure if it is, there is not the right place to have it.0 -
... I deleted it....
Don't quote - will probably delete.....0 -

I once had to have a small bit cut out of my tongue. I can tell you that the actuality was far LESS traumatic than I expected. That strikes me as equally gruesome, if not far more so, than a lumbar puncture.
If you think of the number of mothers-to-be who elect a lumbar puncture to avoid the pain of childbirth, it can't be all that bad at all.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Well, I have my quota of 3 quotes from last night below but other stuff written is pushing them down the list.
LIR, do what you feel but listen to dad and DH as well as they are informed on what's what too but you have the added 'how you feel' plus the effects if the pills too.
I know absolutely nothing about LP at all so couldn't possibly advise in any way at all but the option to go private , even for a second opinion could be worth a shot before you finally decide.
PN, could be time to look about to buy. Prices are going to plod along not changing too much for a year or 2 plus inflation is eating away at your house pot anyways so maybe have another look about?
I have deleted the kitchen appliances list as I have forgotton what I was going to say (so probably wasn't worth saying anyway)
We had that ethos at one point, we've moved to a "work better not harder" and become concerned about the right life-balance as we've got older.
we are trying to do the ''work smarter not harder'' too. Hard one to call though plus it's so nice running something that's going well......buried underneath is the fear of when it doesn't (which will happen at some point).I must have given up well over 100 times but I reckon I am now a genuine ex-smoker. I've probably had 10 cigarettes in the past 5 years and none in 2012.
It is very easy to give up but very, very tough to stay off the cigs. It's well worth trying though. Lung cancer is a horrible death.
I think I might have done it this time though but the urge is always there and I wish it would go away. Such a PITA especially as my OH hasn't smoked for 30 years.0 -

Well, elect an epidural, a pain relief option. I am electing to have brain/spine fluid drained through my spine. Its the same place, but a different thing.
I do know some people can get up and drive themselves straight home (consultant told me) but they will purposefully be draining my brain of its cusioning fluid that it likes swimming about in.0 -
Cut cos pn wants it so!0
