The place does not have a nice clean feel, and i wich i could have the lp somewhere else, but ......its got to be done.

On Weds I went to a local hosp for an xray. Parking was easy, facilities very old but clean, sign posting was good, staff efficient and friendly. In and out within 60 minutes, I had anticipated longer and paid for 2 hours.

A couple of weeks earlier I had taken Mr S to A&E at another Hosp. Much bigger place. He had quick triage then a three hour wait in a pleasant environment and then fairly meaningless advice.

My gripe is that I have multiple health issues and am not seen in the same place for everything because where I live services are commissioned from different providers. So large Teaching Hosp, large Acute Hosp and small district general hosp.

My GP has advised me this week that the holiday we are due to go on next Sunday I may not be fit to travel. Taking a sharp burst of steroids to see if it helps, had xray weds at one place, has to get back to GP by next weds, possible referal to large TH to see a specialty Cons I already see or may get referred to same specialty at the large Acute. Either way the Cons will need the xrays - they may or may not get there, I may then get another xray, more reporting delay, etc.

Being a reasonably sophisticated NHS user and I find it hard. God help the less knowledgeable.

I am being seen all at the same nhs hospital, seen the same consultants ( or the consultants supervising those seen nhs) in the same fancy private one with pianist. I have to see a third consultant now only available private ( but the one the gp recommends, so him it will be) but not sure where he is based.

It certainly has been easier that my consultants talk (adjacent offices in private hospital) but thats where the efficiency has ended.

I really hope you are fit to travel spirit. :(. I have to say after the problems i have has flying in recent years it has been almost a relief to be told i cannot til this is resolved. Perversely of course, there are places i want to go now....:rotfl:

Cranachan's the one that some people struggle to pronounce as it uses the ch as in loch. But Hebrew, Russian, Arabic and German speakers wouldn't have any trouble with it. Not sure many latin languages use it though.

    Thanks PasturesNew,

Do any of you get days where you wonder if you are on the " right " path? I turned 26 last week, and will be (hopefully) starting a vocational course (midwifery) next year which I know would give me a very fruitful career. I have always been interested in alturistic type jobs. Although, I find myself second guessing myself all the time! I guess it is the realisation that, No, I wont be a millionaire by the time I am 30 and probably never. lol - A silly little dream I had, (probably most teenagers do) when I was at school.

It just seems that the media are now portraying " honest work " as something that only the boring do. It appears that going on X-factor, TOWIE, Big Brother etc seems a lot more desirable for people in my age bracket. I heard that 60% of teenage girls aspire to be a glamour model, I can't find the source right now but I will have a look later. Everyone my age wants to be living the high life, makes me feel like I am missing out on something, makes me feel like I should be choosing a higher paid career, waited till I was 40 before having a child etc etc. Feels like a whole lot of pressure to me..

So, I guess this is my first random post...lol. Just my general thoughts at this present time.

It's pizza night for me and the OH. I am just glad I have a toddler that goes to bed at a decent time. In 24 minutes, my house will be quiet.

MiddyMum, don't be misled. If you have the sort of character to want to make a difference and to be drawn to jobs where the rewards aren't solely financial, then you wouldn't be happy doing something you didn't believe in even if you earned shedloads. You seem to have a great life plan that is panning out very well for you to have the sort of life you really want - which is a lot more realistic than most of the the girls wanting to be glamour models or aspiring to fame on TV. There was some kind of American study recently that found that job satisfaction was much more related to believing that what you do is worthwhile than to earning loads, anyway.

The only problem is that most of the people in your peer group (on FB anyway) are not going in the same direction as you. It's great to have some friends who are living very different lives from your own, but it's no fun if nearly all your friends are on such a different trajectory. You need more friends who have the same kind of attitude as you - not necessarily just midwives, but any people who chose their jobs for the sake of the job not the sake of the paycheque. Then you won't feel so unusual.
Kingsize bed, king size fitted sheet, not a fat mattress. Yet. I am not far fropm shoving a duvet under the top sheet and getting the elcetric blanket out again this year.

Last night i was cold and dh got up and put an extra duvet and two blankets on me, then i had dreams i was a hairless rabbit swimming ion a cauldron with huge vegetables and i was trying to find a way out. So i guess i was too warm with all of that extra!:rotfl:

Sounds scary. Glad nobody ate you. :rotfl:

Yes thanks, Nikkster. Presents in the morning - she likes to have lots of them, but is happy with small things: craft supplies, lego, lipgloss, chocolate... DS and I even gave her a cucumber because she likes them so much. ;) Swimming in the afternoon, cake baking in the evening and a sleepover with the kids from next door.

A friend of mine from work pointed out that at 9, DD is half way to adult today. Every time they do something mildly irritating that's based on wanting to be close to me - like wanting to use my ensuite instead of the family bathroom - I try to tell myself not to let it get to me because they won't always want to...

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

A "small world" event. On Mr S's course today there were two others. One of whom is going on Saturday to the same destination we are due to go to on Sunday. Not only a villa on the same resort but in the same road.

That's a size/fitting issue. If you have generous fitted sheets then you can tuck the corners right in .... if you have a fat mattress it's hard to get that 4th corner to ever hold.... olds had this issue once they put a topper on the mattress.

You have to get the fitted corners under the mattress.... sometimes the only way I can do this is by kneeling on the bed, pulling up/back the corner of the mattress, fitting the sheet round it, then letting it go and leaping off the bed,....

Agree with this, particularly when the sheets have been washed an excessive number of times and shrunk slightly.
