Ahh, so its the latter i make then. Which makes me think i have discussed ths before here. Toasted oatmeal or sometimes oats ( but actually i do something slightly different and considerably more wicked) cream, lots of whisky and raspberries and honey? Oh, its so good. But i cannot stand whisky on these meds, can you believe the cruelty of that?

I am so making patent and dh a drink of this even if i cannot have it.

When you're allowed strong drink again, can I recommend oatcakes soaked in Drambuie, topped with vanilla ice cream. Doesn't have a special name (I think) but it's another nice Scottish dessert.

edit: I don't remember any earlier discussion of cranachan but maybe because I took too much cranachan!

Cranachan's the one that some people struggle to pronounce as it uses the ch as in loch. But Hebrew, Russian, Arabic and German speakers wouldn't have any trouble with it. Not sure many latin languages use it though.

    Not in Russian/Slavic languages.

ch = ч, which is similar to ћ in the Slavic languages
    Thus is pronounced like 'itch'

ић = itch/ic in Slavic languages, which is the ending of many Serbian names.
чуть (chyt) = (this means 'a little') in the Russian-based languages; Russian/Belarussian/Ukrainian/Azerbaijani/Kazakh. (I think the last one)

Yes thanks, Nikkster. Presents in the morning - she likes to have lots of them, but is happy with small things: craft supplies, lego, lipgloss, chocolate... DS and I even gave her a cucumber because she likes them so much. ;) Swimming in the afternoon, cake baking in the evening and a sleepover with the kids from next door.
I will tell my DDs who will want to send her a text. Seems strange DD1 and your DD are in the same year despit being nearly a year apart in birthdays. With us it is DD2 who loves the crafty things the most.

This makes more sense as I thought a blue moon was a second full moon in one calendar month and as we were on the first of the month it seemed unlikely!

Got a new box for the TV which gives freeview HD, iplayer and dnla (plays network files) to the tv. In theory plug and play, in practice unplug about 15 wires, remove various boxes and then the tv from the wall bracket, rewire the cat 6 network plate as the builders did it wrong, replug the cables in the loft to the router till the right one is plugged in, tv back on wall, make about 20 connections, fit various boxes behind tv, route cables trying to avoid too much spaghetti, tie cables to stop them hanging down visible, try to get new box to work, try again having put the batteries in to the remote, search online for the manual as it is not supplied with the product, figure out how to tune the box, figure out how to network the box, wait while the box downloads and installs a software update...and that is about as far as I have got.

Now I just need to set up a dnla server on my lan to serve my media files to the box and work out how to use the built in web server to transfer tv recordings to the HD for storage/playback as the STB only has 320gb.
    I think....

Fathers Day in Aus today and it was the first day of spring yesterday. The sun is shining and we're off to the mountains having had a breakfast of bacon and eggs at the local cafe. Perfect.

It looks like it's going to be an el Niño year this year so it'll be a hot, dry summer. Great news for farmers, terrible news for people that don't like bush fires like me for example as I live across the road from one of the National Parks in Sydney.

    I can't complain :D

Are there lots of eucalyptus trees Gen? Those oily trees were the ones I was scared of. Any low brush/scrub, less so. People who haven't lived in Australia may not have seen eucalyptus fire, but because the trees are very oily, they release oil and this can make the sky look as though it is on fire as it arcs between vegetation. In normal circumstances it gives the air a blue tinge and is how the Blue Mountains were named.

You did it wrong, the process is like this:
1] Get it, unbox it, plug it in.
    2] !!!! all happens.
3] Flick through the book, moan online.
4] Put it all back in the box and declare it's a load of !!!!.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thank you to silver car who told me to get a QUIET dishwasher. Parent bought it, (could not stand not having one) and i said that quiet was important. Its so quiet that when i have been in the room with it its almost not audible. Its quiter than my quiet washing machine, which is drowned out by a tap running.

Its certainly going to be easy to live with. :). And it did an amazing job.
