I have bread here. I'll make you a sandwich but you would have to come here and eat it.

In fact, i even have crisps here. I can make one of your favourites.

Shop is much easier. Or going without.

Sounds like time for a bit of bargaining. Chewy could turn the water heater on and you could deliver sandwich prior to having a nice soak in a warm bath.

Had a deja vu moment. Looked up an older thread to find the calculator of your chances of reaching 100. StevieJ had posted it on thread 4.

I found it's almost exactly a year to the day since I first stumbled on the NP thread thnking it was about gardening (and life expectancy).

By the way has anyone got a link to the predictor, or somnething similar. The old one doesn't work.

    See post 6848.

Must confess thpugh, have often had a dog on a bit pf baler twine, now keep a lead in my hand bag and car even when i think i do not need it. Dog on a bra i have done, but it was not easy.
There's probably a niche market for dog lead belts..... always one to hand.

On the subject of food I made a proper English afternoon tea for a friend to celebrate the end of winter today: home-made chocolate eclairs and scones along with cucumber sandwiches and smoked salmon sandwiches too. All washed down with a nice cup of tea. Yum!

    I love home made eclairs.

Hop off to Old Style and list the contents of your cupboards.... there's probably 3 months' worth of food in the house.

My current stock of food items is: 9 packets of crisps and 18 cans of pepsi.

I've not bought bread since I've been here for various reasons ... [1] I wasn't given/allowed any kitchen space [2] the fridge grosses me out even when I can find a grimy corner in it.

I've never had a proper English afternoon tea of any sort ... especially not one that posh. I've never had a smoked salmon sandwich (or smoked salmon anything).... nor have I ever had a homemade chocolate eclair. I saw some eclairs being made on the telly the other month - lot of faff. I've probably had a total of 6 eclairs in my life. Love 'em.

I walked to the ferry and back .... not to see how far it is because I already know how far it is .... the trouble is, once you've got there and you're sitting in a very strong sea breeze, facing the sun .... you can last about 35 minutes before you figure you've had enough .... then, the only choice is to come home again.... so that's what I did.

Yeah, there are some aisles I never go down:. When I walk in a supermarket, even on a big shop, I'm only going to go down 1/5th of the aisles!

I never buy juice. I love juice, but it's too high in calories for the volume I get.... so I skip it. I do like to think of getting a carton at Xmas (pineapple and coconut as that's nice), but then I don't. Although, when I do get a house at some future point I will have a freezer and would be able to have enough space to buy/freeze a litre of juice into portions.

There are whole kids' aisles, from nappies to toys - and pet food aisles. Never go down those. I'm never in the booze aisle either. Rarely in the freezer aisle unless I am specifically looking for a frozen dinner to take home right away and eat.

I do love the bread aisle, but am usually sorely disappointed; it's store size dependent whether this is a treasure trove or not. I've got a thing for cheese/onion muffins (although only had them twice now as the packs are so big with 4 huge muffins) - lovely toasted then topped with cheese and beans. Crumpets are another thing I like, but rarely buy because of the pack size.

Having a freezer, at some future point, will make a massive difference to what I can buy. People with a home/proper sized home (not a studio) take freezers for granted. Us peasant-class folks aren't freezer-enabled :)

I agree with the last para. I use a fishmonger in the town that's only around on a Thursday (council day) or Saturday (sleeping day), so if I get 10 minutes on a Thurs, I always go down to the stall (on the back of a van) and buy large amounts of salmon. In the freezer it goes, and gets used over the course of about 3 months.

I also only go down the aisles I know I'm going to need; fruit/veg, bread, milk/fresh meat and booze/soft drinks. About 8 aisles in one of the larger Morrisons stores.
