Are any NPs members of GenesReunited? I've got two records I'd like to view, but can't without joining.... and if I joined then there's the chance that the record doesn't tell me anything more, or they turn out to be somebody different by coincidence.

    :)

    Nope, and don't know.

So, I found my temp library card ... (plastic bag in boot of the car).... and trotted off to the library where I could park. They had NO idea if the PCs had access to the Ancestry Library Edition - and in any case both PCs were occupied so I'd have had to have booked .... and my card wasn't valid there, so I'd have had to have joined ...

So I went to the next library... no car park but I got the last slot on the road and went in. Yes, card valid there, yes PC available, yes Access to ALE. Sat down, keyed in the info I have .... and clicked, expecting to see the actual certificates. No.... just a big list of everybody in alphabetical order, with a column saying which Volume and on which Page the record was. No clue as to where that referenced, where I'd have to go .... and no idea if I even went there, to those volumes, to those pages .... what I'd see... might be another wasted journey/effort. It shouldn't be this hard should it.

All you can do is look up [a] if a record exists some reference number that might help you find it physically (even though that'd mean a trip into a specific town, on a day when it's open ...etc etc). And, without the next level of information, the record you are looking at might not even BE the exact person you're after!

NDG'S is a member and offered to search for me.

From memory, if you proceed as if you want to send the possible relative a message a bit more information appears. You can also search from different known relatives and see if they lead to the same person, which increases the chance the person is on your tree and not just a relative of someone who has the same name as your relative.

Searching my grandfather's line is now something that won't happen :( the information was too patchy to start with and now there is no-one to verify it with).

Got to say they're a few people on this Forum (not NP) who could do with having their Gene Pool reunited :rotfl:

One benefit of OH travelling a lot for work is the gold card he has gained from so muchtravel. So we are holed up in the business lounge waiting for our delayed flight that we booked in economy with air miles.

    Very MSE.

I watched BMX yesterday for 10 minutes, and there were two major crashes. It's horrendous, especially with the slow motion action replays of the crashes, rather than the skilled riding.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
