Any NPs ever lived in an area which turned out to have a dark side to it?

Our house and its grounds has a darker side. The sex offender who lived here did whatever he did somewhere 'here,' but I don't know what, or where exactly, and I don't wish to know.

Certainly, I've never detected any sinister auras or sightings, unless I'm allowed to count the crows, which spirit chicken food away in the blink of an eye. :(

Had a couple of EAs here yesterday and they said that despite the obvious Heath Robinson elements remaining from the previous owners' time in residence, the property had a comfortable & positive feel to it. I've always felt it a cheerful place right from those first crucial 11 seconds when I walked through the door. :)

Up the road a little is the site of a building shown on the earliest OS maps as "Black House." There's no trace of this property today. That's a little sinister.

However, the nearest property to the above, shown as "Little Shanty" on more recent maps, has somehow changed it's name to "Tollhouse Cottage." No mystery there! :rotfl:

There was a festival very near to here last weekend. QUOTE]

There is a small festival very near here this weekend. I went last night with some pals and was delighted as the music ,weather and atmosphere was great but I felt ill. As I had organised the outing I felt responsible for all elements. Tonight we are supposed to be going with close friends and I had no responsibilities but I have succumbed to needing antibiotics so may not get to go.:(

Do you lot actually WANT these tickets, or has it now become a Survival of the Fittest contest where you'll almost buy anything at any price because you've caught Olympic fever and are so obsessional you just HAVE to have them all? ... and you'd rather enter a pact with the devil re your first born than have to admit to people that you didn't get any?

My only born is now 24 and I am definitely open to offers to swap her for Olympic tickets.

I was very careful to check where the press reported him as living. By then, that was somewhere over 20 miles away. :)

Locals are careful not to offend the remaining family members, who are all nice persons (small letters.) ;)

Well ... the first thing to note is that there are laws you have to comply with.

The second thing to note is I've not got a clue what/where they are, so can't provide a link :)

Difficult, lir. I'm afraid I have no bright ideas ATM but will post later if I think of anything.

DS has had his first physio appointment this morning. Lovely young woman who was in giggles at DS's antics for much of the time but managed to do an excellent job on him nevertheless. One of the things she did with him involved a little gadget with a rubber bulb filled with some kind of gel/fluid and a pressure gauge on top - you had to squeeze it as hard as you could to measure grip strength. After that he kept wanting to arm-wrestle the physio so he could prove how strong he was, so at the end she gave in and let him try - not that he stood the slightest chance of winning, but she let him try for a little while before slowly but inexorably pushing his arm over.

She thought he should have been offered physio back in Jan 2010 when the plaster came off and again a few months later when the metalwork was taken out of his arm. I gather that in an adult, nearly 3 years after the accident would be too late to expect to get any improvement at all, but because he's still growing there's some hope for him. She also says that both he and I have slightly more flexible elbow joints than average, which should help too. We're to go back in a fortnight.

Another excellent NHS employee doing a good job :) but a system that isn't joined up enough for the doctors to have referred him for physio when it would have been most effective. :(

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Another little story to make the NP laugh...

The first 3 locations on our holiday, we all shared a room, but in the final place (Tues & Wed nights) I was downstairs and the kids were upstairs. DD decided she wasn't feeling very confident in a strange place and was trying to persuade me to stay upstairs until she'd gone to sleep. I pretended to talk to her favourite toy dog - the one that we found in LNE's house after he died, and who has been her comfort object through her bereavement - and told her that he was upset that she didn't trust him to look after her without me. She looked at me with horror for a minute or so, and then asked tentatively, "You don't really think he's real, do you Mum?" Poor kid, she thought for one awful moment that I'd completely lost my mind. :rotfl:
