and it turns out that all the tickets that it says are available aren't actually available, except for women's basketball!

    Tee hee.
I better not mention that I've just bought two tickets for the boxing on the final day then??

did you get them through the official site?
it's really annoying me - sessions showing up as available when they are blatantly not. men's weightlifting this evening has showed up on there today - but no tickets are really available. all the stuff that was on there yesterday and wasn't available is still sitting there, not being available (but pretending that it is).

Hi, particularly need help from any professional shoppers. I need to buy a washer-dryer for a rented flat. Longevity and reliability are more important than gizmos. I was thinking of a Zanussi, but should I spend the extra on Bosch?

    Bosch http://www.johnlewis.com/231029557/Product.aspx

I am worried that the Bosch has quite a small capacity, so it might be overloaded.

    Any thoughts, please?

Sue has a wonderful new bloke and is officially "in a relationship". Some other things have been discussed, but they pale into insignficance.

Just realised that might be misinterpreted. Naturally I do not consider either silvercar's bereavement or lir's scary neuro/eye problems to be insignificant. But the question was about juicy gossip, and I don't consider those things to be juicy gossip either. Pastures's move is still in the middle of happening, so I daresay Wheezy will catch up with that as things develop.

Do we have any news on either Nikkster's or Chewy's job applications?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

i've got a second interview next week, which was, rather strangely, arranged before the first interview had happened, but it is internal so obviously they already knew who they wanted to appoint before the process started and the interview is just a process to go through to make it all look fair. i will find out if i am the person they wanted before the process started in a couple of weeks!

we had a siemens washer dryer which i understand is just a bosch with a siemens sticker on the front.

it also had a small capacity, was incredibly noisy, so much so that we could only run the spin on 800rpm (max was 1,400). motor burned out three times in two years (it was two years old when we moved in) despite being operated on lowest spin speed in every wash.

third breakage was last week, so landlady is replacing it tomorrow with an indesit one.

the washing machine repairman who came around to fix is said that bosch and siemens are rubbish (he was kicking it at one point calling it a piece of carp) and and we should just buy a zanussi as they are much more reliable.

i think if i was renting a flat out i would buy the cheapest one i could that had a 2 year guarantee and then just replace it with the same as soon as it broke down out of warranty. i expect that is what our landlady has decided to do after 2 expensive repairs and i expect that this is what will be delivered tomorrow: http://www.johnlewis.com/230926765/Product.aspx

I tend to go for the cheapest, but this one is on the top floor, so any leaks could be a total disaster. The present one is a Zanussi and has lasted for simply ages.
