Can't sleep. Body wants to, part of brain desperately wants to. Another part of my brain is just keeping the rest of us awake. :(

there are some freakish athletes on that bbc thing.

some table tennis player who is 6ft but weighs less than 9st? what's that about. exactly the same height as me but more than four stone lighter. in order to reduce my weight to 9st i would have to reduce my body fat to 0% and then cut off both of my legs. that the hell is that about. he must be an absolute bean pole. i hope the table tennis ball doesn't hit him at any point; it will knock him flat.

    I'm home and back.

Feeling a little weird. There is a certain detachment, because all the events of the last 2 weeks were in Cardiff and now I'm home and the house is exactly the same (except for the piles of washing  ).

The short story is that Dad went into hospital for some tests to identify what the immediate problem was, he deteriorated each day and passed away 6 days later. Then we had the funeral and an official mourning period and now I'm home.

How am I feeling? Sometimes I'm fine and sometimes I'm not. I have a circle of supportive friends in RL and that certainly helps.

Big hug, silver. So glad you have friends helping you through.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I've been given tickets for the football in cardiff tomorrow. I have a friend who lives near there, so it seems an ideal opportunity to visit him!

Never been to the millenium stadium before, & also never thought I'd be able to attend anything in the olympics because of £ etc...:j

Any juicy nice people gossip to share?

Sue has a wonderful new bloke and is officially "in a relationship". Some other things have been discussed, but they pale into insignficance.

And from me too - I have no idea whether you have already heard about these positions, but since I haven't read to the end of the thread yet, in my head there is still time for me to wish you luck for them.

MY kids are driving me crazy and we are only 10 days in to school hols - they just have so much energy and use it to talk/sing/run about rubbish, feeding off each other in an ever increasing volume. In my day if your parents looked cross you shut up rather than laughing at them. DW and I are both now hiding in other rooms. I am wondering if they have a secret stash of sugar and tartrazine somewhere :(

All my sympathy is with you both, and the Doozeradults. Mine are being a lot less hassle than they used to be before our friends moved in next door. Having non-family other kids to play with seems to help. So does the trampoline. The last few weeks it has been particularly convenient that DD likes bouncing on it in the rain.

Edit: Finally arrived at the end of the thread. Am happy to report we had a good time visiting the various people, apart from the wasp that gratuitously stung me on the ear without the slightest provocation. :(
