Me neither. I ended up on MSE looking for advice on council tax refunds. The advice was so good, that after I won, I encouraged my neighbours to apply. The result was a total refund of c£110k, the biggest ever in Hertfordshire. Not a bad result:D.

I can't remember what brought me over here...think it may have been a link on another forum, took a look and decided to stay and annoy everyone. I know I was certainly not looking for advice or had any other kind of problem, so it must have been the above scenario.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

London peeps, how did day one of the Olympic lanes go? How were the tube lines round the east end with the practice opening going ahead? Hope you all got around ok.
Not a scooby- gave central London the body-swerve and want to keep doing that as much as possible. Spent ages living next to Wimbledon and loathed it.

DW says London Bridge station was full of cops in non-standard gear.
Managed to avoid the torch by being abroad.

Only aspect I've enjoyed about the Olympics was finding out about the start of the modern games- very interesting. , Rome, Liverpool, St Louis, volcanoes, all the early non-sport contests, etc.

    Like the recommendations.

Would recommend Iain M. Banks books about the Culture. Read them and tell me you wouldn't want to live there!

Greg Bear has written good scifi- I'd prefer Eon.

Just finished reading Sputnik Caledonia, a thoroughly strange book.

And another called Mutants which is absolutely riveting (although a factual book)!

I have one or two culture books, but have never got round to reading them. You're not alone in encouraging me though! I will one day, but I'm not the biggest sci-fi/fantasy fan.
I have been advised to read The Bridge by Banks.

I think I'd like to read I Am The Secret Footballer too.

How many hours/week do NP spend reading books?

    Me: 0 hours. I don't read, ever.

It'll vary, depending on what else I have to do. I'd say probably an hour or more a day.

Nice weather may make me sit in the garden reading for 4 hours. Alternatively, I might go out for the day.

Being involved in a good book increases the motivation too!

Yeah, turned it on at 5am .... lasted about 4 minutes of it in the background before I grabbed the remote to find something else

They were going through the torch relay, day by day, highlighting various torch bearers.

From friends who've got tickets, they've been advised to get to Olympic park two hours before the start of the Athletics. I've got tickets to the morning session of the Beach Volleyball, at Horseguards parade on Saturday. I'm getting there around 08.00 hours, it starts at 09.00. I'll let you all know how it goes!

I'd second that, and also push The Wasp Factory.

I don't read much in the way of books unless it's the hols. When I'm at work I don't get to see the telly, and I intend to watch several TV programmes from end to end.

Dexter and MadMen I know I like and many people are recommending Breaking Bad. Anything else the NPs find unmissable?

S0d's law.... just looked at my phone, had a missed call yesterday (left phone here as I don't need it at the beach) .... googled the phone number, it's the woman who had the original flat.....

She might call me again today, but I'll ignore it until after I've seen tonight's offering.

Hers does have an en-suite and is closer to town, but further from the buses and is 400 yards from the beach. Hers also might not actually be available until the end of August.

Can't be choosing until I've seen both and know if I've got an option of both.

Sounds like missing the call was ideal. I might be tempted to reply by text saying sorry I missed your call and I'm afraid I may be nreachable today because of a commitment but will call this evening thus hopefully preventing her from giving the room to someone else whilst you check out the banks...

Re the Olympic TV stuff - this is exactly why I really wanted to be out of the country for the next 2 weeks :(
