Sounds like missing the call was ideal. I might be tempted to reply by text saying sorry I missed your call and I'm afraid I may be nreachable today because of a commitment but will call this evening thus hopefully preventing her from giving the room to someone else whilst you check out the banks...

Re the Olympic TV stuff - this is exactly why I really wanted to be out of the country for the next 2 weeks :(

I'd definitely second this - perfect opportunity to stall her, whilst still letting her know you are interested (assuming she was calling to offer you the room).

I'm all undecided... my heart says "go for beachside/closer bus stop/bike storage", my head says "go for en-suite, closer to town, close enough to a beach, can move storage to 1 mile away". Both the same price. Tricky as I've not seen the 2nd yet; 1st wasn't ideal and was a compromise. 1st makes me more reliant on my car (quite a way to bus stop after 6pm and no bike storage), whereas 2nd would put my bike with me and instant access to 10km of flat beachside promenade you can cycle on. It's also waterside, so I could just get a kayak too.

    Banks: Lifestyle, but compromises.
Original Flat: Handier for real life stuff. More practical

In a perfect world .... I'd win the lottery. Should I buy a ticket today?

Even better reason to send a quick text to hopefully keep option 1 open until you've seen option 2 later today... :)

Watching the olympics stuff makes me realise it would have been practically inaccessable for me in the heat. Yesterday i was forced to sit for a loy of the day with legs up.

Signal failure coming out of londone meant the person i was meant to collect shortly after nine i actually collected shortly before 12am.

My 'creche' chickens ( the babes, the blind and the limping) are locked in again to day.....our concrete arrived and is going in. There was a hedge hog and a toad in the hole this morning, but the nice builders rescued them.

I've never won the lottery, but OTOH I've never bought a ticket, so there's probably some correlation there.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Only just thought this .... but you should create and bury 1-2 timecapsules into your building while the work's going on. Something to be discovered in 200 years' time.

Oh, they will discover something alright. We found why the house was tilting....an insufficiently dealt with old well. The well MUST predate that part of the house.

total olympics mania has descended on bbc breakfast. oh dear.

They spent millions moving them up to Salford, (and lost a couple of presenters in the process) and now they move them all back to London.

Why they need to sit in a studio overlooking the Olympic Park is a mystery to me (apologies......starting a Victor Meldrew moment )

Jubilee Line Olympics Watch, day 2

Awful again this morning, fire alert or some such nonsense, took 1 hour to get from waterloo to canary wharf, usually no more than 12 minutes actual tube journey.
