oh yes, i need recipes! Brownies and coronation chicken. I would live off these 2 items if I was sure the nutritional content was sufficient :D
Nutritional content was very sufficiemt and low fat too :)
Met up with a couple of lovely London creative types today .... a fish/chip lunch was enjoyed by all on the hot hot hot sands. There followed lots of chatter and laughs.... and lobbing of chips at various seagulls until we were surrounded.

    Burnt a bit.....

You didn't sit under a cagoule in the end did you? :rotfl:Problem is with these London types is they go to a resort totally unprepared (so no rug or umbrella or cossie) then have to run around town beforehand to get kitted out.

Then they can end uo wearing very ill fitting bikinis because it was rush rush hunt through the sale rail and said bikini was labelled on the swinger size 10 on the top and size 10 on the bottom. Turned out this had been written on the mark down swinger by, it would seem, a very short sighted memeber of staff as it was later discovered that the actual size was aged 10/11 for the top and size 14 for the bottoms (which is why they were falling down).

I hope that arrangments are as smooth as possible for you all. And that you are coping. Just coping is more than enough to acheive imo.

Looking at buying -v- renting... I can afford to buy a little place that'd cost £1200/month to rent ... and if I were renting my budget would be £550-600/month to feel inadequately housed. So buying's got to be the name of the game.

So I was having a little look around and spotted something small and thought "that'd do..." and investigated it. Then I checked Zoopla... and Zoopla values it at about 60% of what they're asking, based on the last sold date of 2001.

Kind of put me off it really .... especially as I wasn't terribly sure in any case.
Don't let it put you off...it's just one house that you looked at.
    There will be more.

However, no harm in calling the agent and ask why the price is what it is.......and pull out your Zoopla data. Don't know how accurate it is in all cases. Maybe it had an extension or something?

The area is spot on and owning something outright takes all the worry out of finding rent each month. The only stress-out you may have is the safety net savings would then be gone so to buy and have just a few thou leftover would probably feel safer.....then you can get on with your life, earning and deciding what to do for an income.

Ideally part PAYE (regular amount) and part 'Freedom of Mind' (so you'll never know what will def come in) but it's a kind of trade off worth having.

anyways, I love looking at houses so post up some links :)

actually you said a very poignant thing to us about what one wants and how it can always be more that what one can have.....so a compromise is inevitable. OH said I should listen to what you said cos it's very true.

Sorry to hear your news Silvercar, my thoughts are with you; I know how difficult and strange and new it all is. Your head will be all over the place, your body on auto-pilot.

I hope everybody around you is well/coping as best they can.

Oh Lord.... forgot that bit. Red as a beetroot today - destined for the remainder of the summer to wear that exact outfit day in/day out because of the burn lines.

Had to snip the long list that followed :)

The trouble with going anywhere is you're never sure what you'll need until you get there..... I expected to be inside, not sitting outside on the sand or I'd have bought a little tent ahead of time... and maybe some suncream... and even worn my swimsuit (mine's the wrong size too, got M&S 16 on the basis there's nothing worse than a swimsuit that's way too tight and rides up.... 14'd probably be a better fit. But at least I've got one, of sorts, now.

... and, just remembered your comments when you pulled on your new short trousers... best leave that out of this posting as it's the sort of comment that could haunt you.

I wasn't sure I finished/was clear... maybe I was. I meant that instead of getting it all in one, thinking you're saving money/gaining an income to cover some of the extra costs - and ending up with something "better for less" in a way .... the reality is you add in so much to your wish list that you end up over-committed and it's sometimes best to start again and accept a slightly different configuration of solutions that might not all be on the same site.

You often see this on house programmes, where people have convinced themselves they must have a house and room for stables and that's £400k... whereas maybe they could have bought a house for £250k and a paddock with stables 400 yards away for just £50k.

We all do it .... we all want the moon on a stick.
