I like rhubarb but we don't have it anymore....youngest is very very allergic to it, last time he had it, he ended up in intensive care. The school felt awful (it was rhubarb crumble on the menu that day) but how were they to know that he would out of the blue develop an allergy to it.

That's awful, but I'd be wary of "fruit" that are part of the plants stem/branch structure (that includes strawberries btw) as they're likely to be full of complex chemicals and chemically well-defended, whereas fruit are relatively simple I gather (e.g. nobody's ever been found to be allergic to pears as far as I know).
I had so e of the first to come to uk. I thought they were....ok, at first bite but then they seemed......like sweet artificial chewy air. I like normal doughnuts, with have the benefit of filling one up.

Does anybody remember Dunkin Donuts - they used to be over here back in the 80s when we had more American food outlets than nowadays (for that matter do you remember Wendy's and Taco Bell)?

Lydia, milk is harser than meat to source easily.

The main welfare issues from those looking for enhanced welfare animal products are not the bottles pf free range milk or packets of free range meat, its the hidden food products...reasy made foods and treats containing eggs, meat milk.

The easiest way to buy into beter than basic welfare and farmer 'friendly' is shopping somewhere lioke waitrose, and buying their own label stuff.

Lots of premium brand made food uses 'mean' eggs etc.

Well, that's easy. There's a Waitrose near work. Do you know if Ocado own brand is as ethical as Waitrose own brand? Or should I stick to Waitrose if getting a delivery? (Actually, I haven't been organised enough to get a delivery for ages. :o)

About one year in ten I find that I buy very few clothes because there's nothing in the shops that I like. ...Plus it's cold, I don't want to buy a floaty thin material top when the maximum temp is 15 degrees. Hopefully winter will be better.

I buy very few clothes at all. I can never find anything that fits, which makes shopping stressful and unsatisfying, and I don't have much money to spare for clothes anyway. I basically only buy clothes when something I own has worn out so badly that I really can't wear it any more. And then I find there's nothing I like in the shops, as you describe.

The last para made me laugh out loud! Yes, I suppose the camoflage thing does come into it. But quite frankly some people do not need an extra however mm added to their dimensions!

re the first para - my very favourite one (which I pretty much can no longer wear) is a similar colour, it has very small flowers embroidered on it (can't remember what kind, but it would be funny if they were tulips!). It is in a terrible state, but I just can't bring myself to throw it out :(

Well, I do quite like the nipple camouflage aspect of padding, but then I'm small enough to like the extra added to my dimensions too. My main criterion for bras is for them not to feel itchy to me. This rules out almost all bras because my skin is v sensitive in the area where the band goes.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I'm sooo looking forward to Olympics too. Have tickets for Archery, Football, Athletics and Beach Volleyball. For the Paralympics we're going to Opening and Closing ceremonies, athletics x 2 and cycling. Also planning to go in to watch the Marathons if schedules allow...

I have tickets for the woman's football in Glasgow. DD wanted to see some event and that was as close as any and she's happy.
The last time I was in Glasgow (bout a month ago) I got a traffic violation penalty, (driving in a bus lane) grr lol.

I feel a bit robbed as I missed most of last weekends sport as I was holidaying in Malta. I missed all the British GP and just caught the tennis up until the rain stopped play.

Nooo. That is something I do hate. The taste and texture of under ripe banana. Ripe bananas, a different matter entirely.

I don't eat enough fruit because I hate preparing it and I don't like being sticky. Prepare it for meand I'll eat it all day. There's a nice guy at work who shares his prepared fruit with me! :o

Being a person of normal means I don't have the tickets that cost thousands

Nor me. I've got tickets to the first session of the Beach volleyball in a fortnights time, and also the Hockey, but that's about it. Luckily I've got friends who've been to every Olympics for the last twenty years who'll (hopefully) have some spare tickets for the Athletics. Due to their various connections they've got tickets to every evening at cost price. Even that has cost one of them £2,500 and the other over 4,000 Euros!

My great aunt bought two big houses in Holland Park back then.
A friend of mine used to rent one back then, well his dad did and he lived there .... I think the address was 5 Mar**** Street/Road.... wouldn't it be a bizarre coincidence if this was one of hers!

We had sun yesterday! (First time in weeks that the panels have yielded more than 20kWh.) We have sun on and off today, with white non-threatening clouds. But it poured overnight so the grass is still too wet to strim.

DD is out on the trampoline again. I am no longer feeling guilty about being too busy/tired/overwhelmed to organise for her to get enough exercise. :) She was searching for something clean to wear this morning (must do lots of washing today :o) and tried on a pair of 2nd hand jeans we were given by a family with an older girl. They fit and feel comfortable to her. This is very exciting for her because she's been wearing skirts/dresses/leggings for months and months because she couldn't find any trousers that didn't cut into her unless they were so huge that they wouldn't stay on at all. Evidently all the trampolining has changed her shape. This is good news because she's coming up to the age when lots of girls get obsessed with dieting, and I really don't want her to do that.

Edit: She particularly likes trampolining in the rain, but says she still enjoys it even if it's dry, so she can continue with the exercise regardless of the weather.
