Cheap? I wish. When I was at uni in the 70s an interrail ticket cost as much as a term's halls of residence fees. I was a big-time armchair traveller but like most students I knew cheap holidays in campsites on the med was the main type of holiday we could afford.

Things were starting to change, though. Freddie Laker's Skytrain was bringing transatlantic travel down to a few hundred quid and our medical school started getting American students coming over on TWA's £97 Jetsave tickets, and yes, even then, that was ridiculously cheap!

Term's hall fees now about £1500. Interrail ticket £215 + flights to and from another £100.

So, I am food fail. Went out, to catch the bus up the road ... seem to have missed it even though I was on time.... so after 9 minutes of waiting I walked. Tried M&S, nothing. Tried Iceland, nothing. Tried a cr4ppy Spar, nothing. Then it was time to catch the bus back.

Back here I googled for a chip shop and there seems to have been one on my route, that's allegedly open, but I didn't spot it so it can't have been open.... and I wouldn't really fancy standing in the street with chips in the cold (occasional rain)... and the chip restaurant has a minimum charge of £7/person.

What's all that about? So many places have a minimum charge for eating in.....

So here I am, car's blocked in so I can't go out unless I get somebody to move - and then I'd definitely lose my slot.... not eaten since breakfast.... I've got some vacuum packed naan breads and packets of instant custard in the boot of the car... looks like that's food for me today then.

Tomorrow I'll pick up some instant noodle packs.

Ok, while on food how are np on olives, e.g. If np were eating a vegetarian pizza with no mushrooms, would capers and olives be ok? If its been on it and people do not like will they pick off what they do not like?

I am trying to devise food diverse tastes enjoy atm :)
Hate olives.... what's the point of them?
    Never had capers.

I don't mind picking anything off a pizza.

If I had to choose my ultimate vegetarian pizza (base of tomato/cheese as standard) it'd be: green/red peppers, chilli peppers, onions, pineapple, extra mozzarella.

Are we all coming to yours for tea tonight?
