If you made veggie pizza with capers and olives, and preferably aubergine, I would think "oh good - all the things I don't like are on zthe same pizza so I will pick something else" (assuming said pizza was not the only thing available to eat). :) In general, though, I am always happy to pick things I don't like off pizzas.
And you get told "stop being so picky....." I hate that.... why is what I want "picky"?

I don't mind starving though.... I'm happy to starve/not eat/not be fed. It's not like we're in a 3rd world country without food for another week.

If olive/caper/aubergine pizza were the only thing being served, I would eat it politely.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Tomorrow I'll pick up some instant noodle packs.

Ok, you got me thinking about instant noodles. I don't really eat them, but from when I was a kid until I was pregnant with DS, I used to eat these.

The last place I ever located them was Tesco in Elmers End in the year 2000. I was pregnant, couldn't keep anything down unless it was rehydrated from a packet, so I bought the entire stock on the shelf

I haven't had them since, thought they didn't exist but maybe it's just the packet that has changed? I seriously want some of them, still.

Why'd you do that? That's dishonest..... if the host makes that thing, they must love it, so it's better to declare you don't like it and leave more for them :)

I've seen that brand. Can't say where... but I look at all noodles in every shop ... just in case I spot a new flavour or cheap price. I have seen that packet on several occasions in recent years.

Just Googled... apart from finding them in dodgy/cheap shops... you can order from Amazon.com in boxes of 30 packs for $20+P/P

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4679/asian-aubergine-and-pork-hotpot

This is a reasonable recipe for aubergine and pork belly.

Mostly I always find like snacky filling carbs easy to serve (esp if there are a mix of people). breadsticks, nachos with cheesy dip, salsa, hummus. That covers a large range. Then olives and ham to snack on.

A bowl of salad is easy and things like peppers, tomatoes etc in little mixes so people can pick things out they don't like to eat.

Most people don't mind smoked salmon and some type of grilled chicken thing.

And a selection of fruit salad and some chocolate dipping type thing goes well for pudding.

Last time I made chila besan (chickpea flour savory snack things) as a hot veggie snack.

Cocktail sausages always seem to disappear too. It may seem a bit strange but most people don't mind it.

Cheese laid out as well, 2 hard, 1-2 soft goey one and a goat one to cover all bases.
