What is the big deal with cupcakes at the mo? They really seem to be the thing. I know of a few recent birthdays which have revolved around cupcakes, & the most popular course at our college is a cupcake making workshop!
Donuts - I love donuts nearly as much as homer does, or as much as I love cheesecake. Custard donuts, and vanilla donuts in particular. Nom nom nom.
I've never had a krispy kreme donut. Should I?
YES!

Does this mean no onions, garlic, chillies?:(
Are you a curry-lover or curry-hater?
A general question for NPs - are there fruit you cannot stand? Rhubarb's an abomination to me and apricots should only be in jaffa cakes . Most others I'm fine with. A Swedish colleague at work introduced me to cloudberries. Sublime!
Rhubarb and ginger with cream/ice cream....yum
gooseberries (tried to make cheesecake but got the general gist)...yum
Love apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums...
Apples I can give or take (will eat if in season and cheap)
Pears....oh nom nom nom
All soft fruit. yes.
Citrus...not really grapefruit but will eat if plonked in front
Tropical fruit...love love love mango and papaya and watermelon and melons
errr...no, there really isn't very much that I don't eat :rotfl:0 -
But buying stuff from a farmer's market would involve being in a particular place at a particular time on a particular day of the week. With all the innumerable demands on my time, energy and concentration, there's no way I could manage that kind of investment in mere shopping. Sleep, rest (of the non-sleeping kind) and spending time with people I care about are about the only things I spend more time on than I have to.
ETA I suppose I do spend time playing with spreadsheets more than strictly necessary - both at work and for organising my finances at home. But if I can count God in the category of "people I care about" then that puts the church/prayer stuff in the categories already mentioned.
We've started buying more from waitrose as they have higher standards and they do taste better. They do fill you up more as the quality means more meat less fillers.
However, cost is a compromise so we get fruit and veg from Lidl.
We also have time to pop out and get reductions so we're very lucky to be able to eat reasonably well with welfare in mind.0 -

I'm like you missk, I'll eat pretty much any fruit/ veg.
Don't think I did my list of veg (we were out getting pizzas etc for free last Sun), but I like most. Not keen on celery, fennel, chicory (raw or cooked), but if it is in something I will just eat it first
Fruitwise, I'm not so keen on oranges/ tangerines as I get fed up of peeling them, and if I eat an apple it makes me feel really hungry about half an hour later (not sure why) - but if they are what are available/ cheap then so be it. I love rhubarb (esp with ginger as missk said), and berry-type things. My favourites are cherries.
A few weeks ago we had some mangosteens and rambutans - had never tried them before but really liked them (not the finest specimens, but still enjoyable).0 -

The couple of times that I've had Krispy Kremes, they have been free - one of those supermarket workers that I know had sweet-talked (ha, literally!) the rep who was filling the stand into giving their department some freebies. They were very nice (even the plain ones). They are very expensive compared to normal doughnuts, but a completely different experience imo.0 -

They give free hot ones away at the store in Selfridges. Then I end up spending £14 on more.
I think there's a code around somewhere for a free dozen. Seriously tempted to make a brief trip up the M5 today.
Doozerboy has lost over a stone in the last few weeks. If I did go, I'd have to scoff them in the car before I got home. I could probably manage that. After being roped to work, school runs and children this week, I do fancy a bit of freedom. And cake.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

About one year in ten I find that I buy very few clothes because there's nothing in the shops that I like. Don't get me wrong, I think some of the clothes are lovely but being the age I am I don't want to wear shoes that would make me look like a Thai Ladyboy (actually, scratch that, I'm not tall enough, thin enough and my hair isn't lusterous enough, but you get my drift).. And the clothes are so bleurgh. The colours are either too bright or too washed out and the shapes just aren't me. Marks and Spencer has got it horribly wrong this year. If I was to wear the collection available in my local one I'd have to go join a commune and start yoghurt knitting. Plus it's cold, I don't want to buy a floaty thin material top when the maximum temp is 15 degrees. Hopefully winter will be better.
I dropped into m and s to nuy a bra the other day, and left empty handed. My mst worn bra has a hole in it so its not really a purchase i can put off, but mostvthings were those preformed cup things whoch i hate, and very few were pretty. I like a pretty bra as its one of the few perks every woman can have but the big cup bras looked like some form of armour or even weaponry, which isn't what i want from my underwear..0 -

Ooh - I would imagine super fresh and hot ones would be quite another thing!
