If you can supply the middle/ far East then you will do ok.

I'm ok as I haven't got much outgoings but times are hard for all self employed. If you don't sell for less, you don't sell!

I know the big corp supermarkets say they are all soooo welfare conscious but really the best way is to buy from your local farmers market.

It seems more expensive but a chicken from him gives us twice the meat as a supermarket organic/free range one and only costs a couple of £ more....tastes way better too.

But buying stuff from a farmer's market would involve being in a particular place at a particular time on a particular day of the week. With all the innumerable demands on my time, energy and concentration, there's no way I could manage that kind of investment in mere shopping. Sleep, rest (of the non-sleeping kind) and spending time with people I care about are about the only things I spend more time on than I have to.

ETA I suppose I do spend time playing with spreadsheets more than strictly necessary - both at work and for organising my finances at home. But if I can count God in the category of "people I care about" then that puts the church/prayer stuff in the categories already mentioned.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Welcome back allthesss! Are you excited/underwhelmed about the olympics?

Regarding the recent discussion of peas, I ate them with mustard for the first time today and wondered why I'd never tried such a delicious combo before.:D

As regards these food prices and animal welfare, wish I could include anything more than cost in my decisions. :(

Zag, I'm totally loving the Olympics! In my view, there is no bigger advertisement for a country. The Olympics are the biggest " main event" ever. I don't care how much they cost.

Peas! I like them but I don't eat them now as I only eat carrots, sweetcorn and potatoes as veg. :)

I played golf today. I am now in serious pain.

On the positive side, 3 cd's I ordered arrived, as did the latest Frank Eddie (Fred Deakin) piece of vinyl luvverliness...

Thanks for the link PN - I shall have a look on another day (if I don't forget!)

Anyone know what the trend is with appallingly bad cover versions being used in adverts all the time? It started with the embrace song in KFC adverts & has spread like a horrible wart!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Why restrict yourself to just those three veg if you like others? Is it an allergy thing?

I agree with that. We all do what we feel is "right" but within our limits.

I think limits are right to come in front of products, so it's what ever suits us best.

If products want to be pushed into our lifes then they need to find a way to fit within out limits. :)

Yes Lyd, it's an allergy thing. There are loads of other veg I can have but in normal, I just buy those three. It's more precaution than anything else. My diet says what I should eat and I try to stick to that, even if I can personally eat other things. :)

Does this mean no onions, garlic, chillies?:(
    Are you a curry-lover or curry-hater?

A general question for NPs - are there fruit you cannot stand? Rhubarb's an abomination to me and apricots should only be in jaffa cakes . Most others I'm fine with. A Swedish colleague at work introduced me to cloudberries. Sublime!

Apricots are nice - although surely what's in jaffa cakes is oranges??

I'm with you about the rhubarb, though. Not fond of gooseberries either, or grapefruit, or cranberries. I think the theme here is that I like fruit to be sweet rather than sour or bitter. I don't like underripe fruit either, for the same reason.

No, I think it's apricot jelly with tangerine oil.
The three you mentioned are a no to me; I'd expunged them from my mind.
Rhubarb's toxic anyway; full of oxalic acid
