DW has been helping an autistic boy, giving up her Sunday mornings to give the family a few hours' respite care. Now she's working nearly full time, it's just too much for her. Some friends had a small bike their kids had outgrown. I fettled it and bought some stabilisers, and when DW gave it to him as a parting gift "the little boy was so excited and delighted with the bike that he jumped up and down".No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Thats such a lovely picture, well done Mr and Mrs GBD0 -
PN, my MIL currently has somebody living with her, but she may be moving out. The deal is that you get to live rent-free (+ a small amount of pay) for the down-side of having to live in the same house as an extremely grumpy old lady who smokes far too much and has a dog. You are not expected to look after her, just keep an eye out for her. I am not suggesting that this is for you, but maybe something similar?0

The question is where does she generally advertise for her house guests?
There seems to be quite a few of those sort of adverts in The Lady.

Yes, I agree that's a very good question. We did not advertise.
I'm not sure that PN would want to do that, anyway, but there's also house-sitting.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Thanks it was Mrs GDB who did it all. Including nagging me repeatedly to get the stabilisers etc. I feel rather bad about fitting a bell. It's great for the kid, but not so good for the family. :-)No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

One part of me says yes. Another part says "you have a collection of christmas music?" (I said similar to a friend, who also has a collection of christmas music last year. I cannot understand this concept, as christmas music is everywhere anyway, so why bother? That said, I have a lemon jelly dj set off the radio done at christmas which is very seasonal, & I always get it out in mid december...)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Ahh, thanks lj. Don't worry, you haven't missed any details.
The overall problem is that I spent quite a lot of time dealing with problems (many of which were not my own), and now I would rather just ignore them. Which has been made a lot easier with geographical distance. Unfortunately this does not help get things sorted out. In the grand scheme of things its not so much to worry about (esp compared to other NPs situations, and thats before you even consider they have children to care for too), but I would really like some closure and its not forthcoming!
Appreciate that.
The easy option, is not always the right option. It may be easy to turn a blind eye, but the issue doesn't get resolved.
Problems to people are always important. You will get through it. You will be welcome to moan to us here about it for support. It'll be ok.:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
