In the meantime, I'll see the teacher on Monday. DS that nothing has been done about his complaint about the boy who did it to him. (Known bully has been throwing a hard cricket/hockey type ball at other children telling them to catch it, and then laughing when it hurts them.) I'm not sure yet exactly how I'm going to deal with seeing the teacher. Probably explain he'll be late in on Tuesday because of fracture clinic, and then say the hospital were asking me questions about whether the school was adequately dealing with the unacceptable behaviour, and I wasn't able to answer because Andrew wasn't aware of anything having been done. Do you think that would work? I'm not a very antagonistic person, so I need a way of opening the subject that doesn't involve me going in with all guns blazing. :o
You might catch more flies with honey than vinegar, but having caught them you need to kill them, which vinegar does best.

Lydia, your opening sounds perfect, but i would also ask whether you are kept abreast of how this proceeds and what the proceedure is should their efforts not be satisfactory. There by letting them know that you are going to make sure something is done, followed through correctly.

    Thanks for the support, everyone.

Further context for the story is that there is history of the school not dealing effectively with bullies in DS's class, including the boy involved in this incident. However, I suspect it will be easy enough for the boy to claim he was playing, and threw the ball for DS to catch, and had no intention of hurting him. While I don't think that that's true, I imagine it would be very difficult to prove that he intended to cause harm. I also feel that if the school haven't sorted this boy out in the last 7 years he's been there, then it's unlikely they're suddenly going to change their tune a mere two and a half weeks before the class leave and go their separate ways for secondary schools. Is that cynical or just realistic?

(BTW, DS is v happy that none of the boys who've bullied him will be going to the same secondary school as him. :) DD is at the same school, but her class has never had a bullying problem, whereas DS's class has had one almost since reception.)
I think we all know what the chances are of this being dealt with thoroughly this close to the end of the year.:(

It sounds like DS's problem is ending. I suspect this close to the end of his schooling you'll be lucky to get more than a sense of closure that you've responded to his problem and treated it with the respect it deserves.

    Sorry if that slounds gloomy.

The school's child protection officer should be made aware of your concerns obviously.

Have you spoken with other parents? You're not likely to be the only one with concerns. If I knew parents with kids going to the school the bully's going to, I'd tip them off to watch out for their kids.

First thing this morning, it rained. Then it rained. A bit later it rained. Mid morning it rained hard. Just before lunchtime it rained super-hard. Then it rained just after lunch time and now ... it's raining.

The ideal weather for someone planning to spend a couple of days chilling and recharging (although even better for a couple to do the same thing ;) )

Colin is an alcoholic that smells so much I won't have him in my car

Noone will do him, and I have his card in my safe at home, bung his shopping on that and take £10 for myself (with his permission of course) :)

It's literally a dump, ring bell and run scenario :o

That's very decent of you, but you are putting yourself at some risk. If he ever complains (or a relative if he dies/ends up in hospital) you could have some very nasty allegations being made against you. I'm not quite sure how you can protect yourself.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

He's put me as a sig on the account, with my own card for the account. Bank are specifically instructed of 2 places that card can be used (cashpoint, shop) and this is written down. I log all jobs, so his bank statements and my log should automatically add up for what's on the card.

He's in pain, and we won't do him as a company, following an incident involving the windscreen of my sisters car on Christmas Eve a few years back (jumped in, took him to shop, he got abusive and refused to pay, ended up in a 6 month old Audi Q7 being broken). I always check balance before I do the shopping now, but won't have him in my taxi.

Does that mean you got it back? (or did I completely misinterpret)

I wonder if lemonjelly went to see the Olympic torch today? Just watchingMudlands Today and I think it was near him today. It's coming here tomorrow. Trying to persuade my dad to come and see it (rather than just saying he can see it in TV/ in the local paper). I wouldn't have to drag my mum along :( (although she's somewhere much more exotic atm). I'll go anyway, but I think it would be good for him to do more things outside his normal routine IYKNWIM.
