PN, great to hear that's over.

I'd push for as many people as possible to read Nineteen Eighty-Four. A world of cameras everywhere and everyone distracted by tv that you can't turn off. Big Brother and Room 101. I expect a lot of people would regard it as worthy but even the movie's a belter.

Right I'm going to start reading for pleasure when the madness all calms down soon.
As a scifi fan, I'm recommending Pat Cadigan's Patterns if you can get your hands on a copy. She wrote these short stories some time ago but they're stunning- there's some reviews here.
Having read this and the previous thread, am I to take it that The Hunger Games is a good choice?

I've already read 1984....in 1984! I recommended it to my boys and James has now read it too.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Can someone horsey help me over this extraordinary picture, please? It is something to do with that well-known horse-lover Katie Price. "The star revealed that the Lloyds Bank Black stallion was one of her childhood bedroom pin-ups." But, forgive me being crude, is that actually a stallion? Or a gelding? Is it really a live horse or a statue? And that saddle is quite unusual.

Well, i cannot see the balls, so guess its gelded. The saddle is a high schholsaddle of some type, cannot see which though tbh. The high back and front are to increase security while performing the 'high school'm movements, where horses 'read' or leap about. They are unusualy to day in 'english' riding as americans call 'normal ' riding but of course startard for centuries in herding work or for knights. Look at the modern western riding sassle...its the same prigin really.

If you are interested in seeing more look at alta escuela saddles (increasingly popular now is classical riding) or even the carmarge saddles, the old maremana ones.

I could write essays on these, i love saddles. (saddle making can be an art, and an indicator of history...war, farming, pleasure. I would really have love to have had a tack museum, some one recently got there before me though. And not cheap to collate the stuff for it!)

ugh, i'm depressed about my garden today. I want to grass everything over or spend £5k on it to make sure I can just wander around a beautiful garden...

Miss kool, i know the feeling. Here its bloddy depressiong, certainly doesn't look like people who like gardening live here. Weeds, long grass and mess, everywhere,:o:(

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I vote the house goes to PN and the car goes to Sue. The garden makeover has to be for MsK.
    I think....

This week I will mostly be trying to work out where I'll be living [1] Fri-Mon this coming weekend ... or, hopefully [2] where I'll be living for the next 2-4 weeks (doubtful). I might have to move twice next weekend if I can't get it right.
