I wrote it a couple of times with different answers. My first one was more plan-like, however then I figured "well Pastures knows what her business is and how to make money from it, but has been hamstrung by place (not being near the right job-market) and circumstances over the past several years". When I looked again at the question I thought well, it's not just asking about making a million, its about doing it from a new town.
The people I know who are very successful in business are able to take a very holistic approach to how it fits with their life. So if you are moving to a new place, it is as important for you to be in a good place mentally and have structures around you for support (I don't mean the social state but something more informal). My sense is that this is harder for Aspies.
I have a very lateral thought process. This helps me discover the minutae of things but is absolutely useless at getting me pointed and going in one direction. Hence the answer!PasturesNew wrote: »On the whole... I don't really want to mix with aspies... because they're either super-weird, or just cruising and suckling the teat of entitlement. But I would like people that didn't think I was rude when I did or didn't do what they expected me to....
That's fair. I think lir's comment re the gap in the market is right too. There's something broken in the system if a) aspies are seen as some of the best geek employees yet b) the rate of unemployment among aspies is considerably higher.PasturesNew wrote: »I come a cropper when I go to the scarey boards.... and we all know where they are don't we

You were absolutely correct in what you said. I shouldn't really say this 'out loud', but I think my mum is about to miss a flight (through no fault of her own)
She was supposed to be being picked up at 5.40, but only left about 5 minutes ago due to some c0ck up with the car (arranged through hol co).
She was doing a relatively good job of staying calm (for her), so I kept quite, but I think she'll be at the M25 in time for rush hour and I don't think there are any other flights to her destination today (or tomorrow).0 -

My experience of dealing with the police over the past few years has been nothing short of appalling. It started when I was assaulted and the policeman handling my case never returned my calls, never answered my questions to the point that I just gave up.
Since then I've been dealing with minor law-breaking (vandalism and that kind of stuff) and calling in to the non-emergency number. I've been told at least five times that the police will be in the area, they'll pop in and see me and they never did. Then I met the local sergeant, so I told him, and they still never did. Imagine if you were a little old lady being bullied by a local gang and that happened and the sense of isolation it would cause.
As things stand now, I have very little faith that the police are capable of solving crime. They certainly aren't structured in a way that's fit for purpose. This isn't even about cuts, it started before that. I don't have any sympathy for whatever happens anymore. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? So did nothing happen following your assault? Thats terrible. And regards the low-level stuff, I thought they were supposed to be tackling that as it was the slippery slope to worse crimes?0 -

Nothing happened with the assault. They didn't want to press charges because the person was mentally ill, I wanted to because I was the one assaulted. They didn't think it would get past the CPS. However it was important to me to see justice being done. They ignored me. Just like they did on the other stuff.
The other stuff, btw, happened very near a police station. They could hear it going on, but because they were on a break stayed drinking tea. They said they could hear it yet still did nothing. Well its not a great leap to work out that someone who randomly assaults someone else is mentally ill. Not prosecuting is ultimately not going to help the other person, and certainly doesn't respect your right to have some action taken.
As for the other stuff being within earshot of the officers having a tea break - I just don't know what to say.0 -
I was about to suggest she could get the taxi to divert to Luton Airport Parway station and she catch the train to Gatwick...then it occured to me she was probably flying from LHR...I shouldn't really say this 'out loud', but I think my mum is about to miss a flight (through no fault of her own)

If its the holiday company that's made the c0ck up, then they generally have reciprocals with other holiday companies. So the best thing is to go see the airport rep, or better still call them while the desk is open, and let them know the situation. They should then take the pain of getting her on another flight, with a different airline if necessary. I have before now flown Virgin when BA's plane went tech, so I know such arrangements exist, just not how they work. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? No, it is Gatwick. I think that would be a level of stress too far tbh. Also as the driver is provided through the travel company it's their problem to sort out. As soon as she left I called their out of hours number (mainly as I couldn't think of anything more useful to do) so they are definitely aware, and the rep said that as it was not her fault they would have to sort something out. Hopefully it won't come to that, but I have a bad feeling it will...
This is what happens when parents spend your inheritance! (joking, I always encourage my mum to go on holiday as that is what she enjoys going and I don't want her money - I want her to enjoy every last penny).0
