The rich and their tax dodging again .... owning all the property, holding it to ransom, then pocketing profits another way.

    Typical :)

Meanwhile, I'm looking for a touring caravan to live in..... more no fixed abode time potentially. Just exploring all the best/options at the moment.... rents are too high in the area I am moving to and all those checks and judgements LLs make on you put me off it all to be honest. I'm juggling ideas of: cheap hostel or caravan ... difficult to know what's for the best really.

    Sawbridgeworth, £650/month.

It's been empty for 7 months???!!! A quick look on Rightmove suggests that rents for 1 bedders are around that level, but after 7 months I'd be looking to undercut the market.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'm back! Amazingly, the holiday was not a washout. We only got rained on once, and that was for 20 mins. We had some lovely walks.

The Eastern daily Press, which covers the whole of Norfolk and a bit of Suffolk, is incredibly parochial. They ran a piece about a triple tortoise-napping. "A Norfolk family have been left devastated by the theft of three beloved tortoises". “It has been devastating, especially for my daughter. I can’t sleep or eat anything at the moment, I am so worried about them.”

Some people, not to say newspapers, need a sense of proportion.

Gdb, for many pets are family. If your cousin, let alone your child, wete missing or kidnapped you would feel devastated too i imagine.

You might well feel its out of proportion, but they might feel the same about something you felt strongly about too.
Tortoises are one of tose creatures i would not buy, they are a hugecresponsibility, like parrots, you cannot ensure their long term care if they significantly out live you.

Anyway:) glad you had a great holiday! I have neve been to norfolk i don't think, maybe i have for a competition, but...um, not sure:o I have been to suffolk, my parents looked at houses in suffolk when i was in late teens.

Well under £1million would have me settled for life... probably £500k.

Maybe that would be enough... if you're not hit by any unexpected costs or huge financial setbacks like...
.... and got hit with an unexpected, unwarned and irreversible 50p charge!

You are right, of course. I just feel no affinity with reptiles, and I cannot imagine what people see in them as pets.

It's just miserable weather here in London. Grey skies, and raining steadily.

I got soaking wet during our morning walk and so did westie. On top of that Mrs. Wheezy's train got cancelled due to flooding in Fulwell and it took me 50 minutes to drive into work (25 minutes usually). I wish I was at home in my fleece PJ's and skiing socks.
