£5 million would do me I think. Any less than that and I would probably have to carry on working. Anyone got £5 million they want to give me?

N'ah. Don't have it to give and it wouldn't be enough.:o

    Yes.

Not perfect but better. :). Interstingly, also for the less serious conditions like thyroid too. My mothers thyroid went for the first time when our health care was US and the second time here, later, so we direct comparison of treatment, and coincidentally sibling in law has also developed thyroid malfunction and the diffence in treatment is considerable.

I suppose a main difference is that here the nhs picked up the tab for my mothers second thyroidectomy....

I think the in the states (and in places where people pay for treatment, not socialised medicine), you get treatment quicker and it's much more aggressive. As long as you can afford it of course. (and that's where the problem is).

There's no happy middle ground, as when you have socialised medicine, people expect to get everything as if they were paying for it (hence the many appeals for the mega expensive life extending drug) but then again, in a private system, you reduce the ones who cannot afford to peasants.

If someone gave me £25 million, I'd give you £5million.

    Not possible until then :(

We have just unpacked a pair of antique corner mirror thingies. One is fine, the orher is in many pieces :(
    awww :(

On the plus side... that means the remaining one is now more rare!

Any chance of getting your many pieces restored?

The income generated on £500k would only be £15-20kpa, I'm going to need more that that as it wouldn't even cover the rent!

We have a growing list of damages!:o. Atm we have decided to try and secure it, broken, to the wall, on the basis that things are least at risk of damage or further damage when up. On closer inspection the other mirow is damaged too, but not as badly.

I don't from a aesthetic pov mind damaged stuff, i think it has more character, and i only like having stuff that we use, but obviously, we would not leave stacks of tenners in damp rooms with open windows, so the stuff would be treated with similar care imo.

Still trying to find someone to restore my rougier lamp big dog broke..... Having things repaired is often more expensive that replacing. :(
