We have modern skirtings in here which will not be changed for a while. I like the purple, but its not enough. Till we get deeper skirtings at least in winter i will get some bright leaf green and paint a two inch stripe above skirting. This also pulls the blue green coloured paint back into the green realm a bit, so the blue ness is a feature and the theme is still subtle green.
I always thought skirting boards should be white, until I saw some in oak that looked stunning.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Nice to dream, huh?:D
Do you know that there is treatment in the US that could make you well? Or do you suspect you would have been treated differently had you become ill there?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I prefer painted skirtings generally, but like rough decrepid looking stripped wood, i love that look. Smart, waxed or varnished natural wood is not for me.
Ultimately i think it should be what redlects the occupant. Perhaps thats why i like decrepid looking things, lol.
Atm it looks like someone grubby wanted to open a sweet shop in a georgian house with our new paint colours. While we have been painting we decided that very few people would go for purple skirtings ina georgian house, and that my parents will both be horrified. We like it.0 -
For the high school where both the younger boys attend, not only for their help over the years but also to give a level playing field between the haves and the have nots...being on benefits does not always mean you are worse off than those not receiving benefits, so I would like to provide enough money for everyone to have access to a free school lunch, grant for uniforms etc, regardless of parent's income.
I'm involved with a local community group that trys to identify school children who are not eligible for free school meals but whose families can't afford to pay for school lunches. It is an absolute nightmare to identify the people affected and to offer the support. Either the schools don't know (or don't care) or they can't link the group to them. We have got round the latter point now, but I'm amazed at the lack of pastoral care in some secondary schools.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Yes.
Not perfect but better.. Interstingly, also for the less serious conditions like thyroid too. My mothers thyroid went for the first time when our health care was US and the second time here, later, so we direct comparison of treatment, and coincidentally sibling in law has also developed thyroid malfunction and the diffence in treatment is considerable.
I suppose a main difference is that here the nhs picked up the tab for my mothers second thyroidectomy....0 -

Honestly, i have lots of dreams, and would never be one of those people who say theyj don't know what they would dowith an obscene lottery win. I would make an excellent billionaire.
If I won the lottery I would put the whole lot in the bank and not tell anyone. Then I would just quit work and live off the interest, but not tell anyone I'd quit (probably wouldnt even bother telling work - just not turn up).0 -

We have talked about this and it would have to be a mega sum, not even a sum thats a bit more than dh could ever earn but that multiplied many times.
I think even then dh would work in a manner, but not necessarily doing what he d,oes, and i would work harder, because it would work round me. I know i miss the discipline and mental discipline of employment in many ways. We would both cut out a lot of mundanities of life though...under the guise of providing good flexible local employment.0 -

I've almost finished painting the skirting boards in my house white. Prior to this they were orange (lots), deep purple, Arsenal red or pink. It's taken gallons of paint and hours of time. Never again:eek:. Lir, you could have moved right in... Though I doubt you would have thought much of the Arsenal room either. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? £5 million would do me I think. Any less than that and I would probably have to carry on working. Anyone got £5 million they want to give me?0
