Do you think we're having a mid-life crisis?I would offer to do the Mongol Rally with you Hamish, but your incessant talk of house prices and my contant talk of library books would doubtless lead to one of us murdering the other.
:rotfl:
We could just vow to talk about F1 the whole way, but then it would probably descend into a Ferrari vs Mercedes bun-fight before we even got to the channel.
I've just about got Mrs McT convinced that a London-Sydney overland trip would be a good idea.
The mongol rally would be an absolute blast though. We should put together a nice people team for 2013.:D:“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

My dream is a little more simple...to be able to go to the supermarket and just fill my trolley up with stuff and not worry about the cost.
I did that once, when I was married and although I enjoyed filling the trolley with wild abandon, when we got to the checkout and was presented with a bill for approx £150, I came up in hives and got all stressy. We could afford it, that wasn't the problem, it was the actual amount which made me gulp.
My other dream is to win the lottery and buy a massive house complete with space for a music studio/practice room.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

My dream today would be for a cooked breakfast to appear by magic ..... as I have no food in, no cooker, no plates and nobody else ... it's not going to happen is it.0

Almost certainly, yes:rotfl:HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »We could just vow to talk about F1 the whole way, but then it would probably descend into a Ferrari vs Mercedes bun-fight before we even got to the channel.
Did you know that there's a nursery rhyme involving Ferraris? I'd just sing it to you until you were brainwashed.... Or alternatively I found my mouth ducktaped...HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »I've just about got Mrs McT convinced that a London-Sydney overland trip would be a good idea.
Bet you didn't mention the bit about not bringing the Louboutins though. My dream is a little more simple...to be able to go to the supermarket and just fill my trolley up with stuff and not worry about the cost.
It's all dreams Sue, all dreams. You are in reality giving three wonderful kids a caring and thoughtful mum who steers them on the right track. I'd never be able to do that. Sometimes the reality is better. Baby steps Viva...... I've found it best to break these things to women slowly.
Besides, I may be able to get away with it if she gets to take a pair of Jimmy Choo welly boots.;)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

So would I....I know exactly how I would spend a good amount of it.We made it! Me too. Education grants, medical research grants, University scholarships, job creation, buying good things made by skilled people, investing in business that offered domestic employment. Crime rehabilitation through employment and crucially skill development .....
Ofcourse i would also get myself to us for the healthcare that would help me and have very nice holidays etc etc.
Nice to dream, huh?:D0 -

Certainly is.
Mine would be donations to the local special needs playgroup who helped me so enormously when the boys were pre school age, without them, I think I wouldn't actually be alive today, they quite literally kept me going.
Also a donation to the local Mencap drop in/Thursday sessions for preschoolers, which they attended preschool and infant school age (until they had to leave as the staff could no longer cope with them).
A donation to the schools which have been so helpful over the years, youngest son's junior school to help them build on what they developed in their time with youngest (he has a unit named after him as it was because of him they became the best school for autistic children to go to in the area). The outreach service which has allowed him to go mainstream and also been a very supportive resource for me.
For the high school where both the younger boys attend, not only for their help over the years but also to give a level playing field between the haves and the have nots...being on benefits does not always mean you are worse off than those not receiving benefits, so I would like to provide enough money for everyone to have access to a free school lunch, grant for uniforms etc, regardless of parent's income.
And finally, I would of course make sure my extended family is provided for, that the boy's futures are taken care of and that we would have a house suitably large enough for all the boys activities. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
