Sorry to drag up an old post.

    £10 for 2 miles?

Cabs do not want to come out to us as when they drop us off we are a long way from them getting a 'return' fare.

I have just put the groom to bed, not as bad as the last wedding when I was a groomsman and we watched the sun come up on a lovely Sydney morning, but close!

Hope the speech goes well!

    We're as follows:

Rate 1: £3 first mile, 20p every 1/10mi after that
6am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, 1-4 passengers

    Rate 2: £4.70 first mile, 30p every 1/10mi
    10pm to 6am Monday to Saturday, 24 hour Sunday/Bank Hol 1-4 pass
    As rate 1 (5-8 passengers)

    Rate 3: £6.20 first mile, 40p every 1/10mi
    Christmas Eve 6pm to 27th Dec 6am, NYE 6pm to 2nd Jan 6am 1-4 pass
    As rate 2 (5-8 passengers)

    Rate 4: £7.60 first mile, 50p every 1/10 mi
    As rate 3 (5-8 passengers)

My next taxi is going to be a 6 seater (Galaxy or the like)

CK - why is it cheaper for a bigger cab? I would have thought it would be the other way round...? Or have I read that wrong (likely)?

Edit: yes, re-reading I think that 'rate2' is the lowest rate for a 5+ seater. Still waking up!

Edit...of cpurse i suppose if i were typing from a more crowded bed now i sippose i would also have found that right at the time. In any case, iam lucky enough to be very happy.

In our house crowded bed means us, (adult) DD & a cat.

It usually means that we are all in a good mood and chatting about a plan.

The size of the car doesn't matter. We run a fleet of ex-Addy Lee Galaxies, if there's 1 person, assuming the job comes up now, you're on £3 start. Owner-drivers (about 50% of the fleet) can use any car as long as its plated, in theory. I've kicked anything per-06 plate off the fleet now, except mine (known as the chuck bucket) and has heavy duty plastic seats and rubber mats accordingly.

There's the potential to earn more money with a 6 seater (we don't include the drivers seat), but also potential to pay more in fuel.

We also use Autocab instead of a radio system, which gives priority to cars we're taking 50% from, not £120/week.

I still have no clue what you do for a living, CK .
First I thought you were the Georgian Pete Waterman, music impresario, involved in Eurovision and promotion and production and such...
Then you run a cab fleet...
Or maybe I got it all wrong - again. :o

I don't have a clue about what most people here do for a living.:D Loads of you could be traffic wardens, truant officers, spycatchers, morticians, whatever, but many of you, in general, keep your details to yourself.

Quite all right with that! ;)

Still expensive. If you're nice and booked before 11, I may drop it to rate 1, but not very often.

    Rural living, innit.

We are three, four miles from railway station, and twelve or fifteen squids......

Did you meet at uni? I think someone did here, and seem to remember manchester.....

As you say, then there is the staying together issue, or one person feeling clipped wings.

Generally i am pleased dh and i met quite young, i think practically it gives one less time to get stuck in your own habits and find sharing easier....not just relationships. Flat sharing is good for he same thing i think.

Yes we met at uni, but not Manchester. DS1 is at M/C and horrified that we met at uni and got married so young. He says even his friends in serious relationships would not think of getting married.
