Hi Guys
I hope you can help me out here and try to dispell this myth that I seem to have about myself that i am just an evil mother.
My 22 year old moved back home last year when she had a fall out with her boss (nail salon) and she also lived with them so had to leave her accomodation too which was rent free.So we also allowed her to run her nail business from home and me and her dad did up the spare room and made it into a salon for her, she paid toward the decor etc so that was fine.
For a while we didnt charge her any rent to get back on her feet. but after a while charged her £50 a week does any one think this is unreasonable? thankyou

£50 is a bargain, i paid £25 a week 22 years ago,

as my mum said if i could find a flat and pay bills cheaper to move out, lol. i knew what side my bread was buttered and stayed at my mums. so no i do not think it is too much.

I think it's more than reasonable.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

you wont be doing her any favours by giving her a free ride!0

Not at all and the £50 for the rent of the room will be a tax deductible expense for her business. You should seperate the rent into two components one for the business and one for her own bedroom. I'm assuming she has two rooms to use.little_miss_spender wrote: »Hi Guys

Sounds very reasonable! I guess she's complaining? Can she get the same set up for £200 elsewhere? Doubt it.

I moved back in with my parents for 6 months, at the age of 27. That was 4 years ago. I'd had to take a big paycut and paid them what I could afford, which at the time was £350 per month. That was for everything, included food. If I'd been able to pay more, I would have done.0

Sounds too generous to me! How much did the redo cost to turn it into a salon? How much time does she contribute to make the approach to it from road to room presentable (i.e. contributing to housework and presenting a professional front)?
How much would similar facilities cost to rent in your area were she not to have the option of doing this fom home? If the situation does not suit her she might consider seeing if renting away from home would be a better business model for her?0
