Mrs on a mission!

Hi there! I've decided to start a new diary following a significant change - I got married!!!!
I am now, as the title of my diary says, a Mrs on a mission. That mission being to reduce my debt and clear it in full asap.
At the start of this year (Jan) my total debt was £28,428.16, it now stands at £25,455.90 - that's almost 3k paid off of it. I know it's now sub 25k as made payments this month already.
History bit....started dmp in Nov 2007 - turned to be a nightmare as payplan (which I know are great for most!) at this time (no idea why) did not make payments on time, left me dealing with creditors etc so I took the decision to manage it all myself and so far so good. Most bar a couple have stopped interest and the balances are coming down slowly.
Debt was prior to my hubby and I have his full support. I'm very lucky in that he pays more to household, holidays, other costs so that any free money I have can go towards the debts. However now I REALLY want to make inroads - I can't face another 2-3 years of this slog.
So there you have it, quite simple really. Now just have to put words into action...watch this space!

This page is for running monthly totals/plan....
Jan 15th = 28,428.16
Feb 15th = 27,657.78
Mar 15th = 26,876.20
Apr 15th = 26,103.44
May 15th = 25,455.90
Jun 15th = 24,666.39
The plan.....
Quite simple really, cut back and overpay/save. I will re-look in coming weeks at all our utilities etc. Meanwhile my main course of action will be to save as many pennies as I possibly can in a different account to clear/make full and final offers. Thus reducing my debt and outgoings at the same time. It's finding a balance as currently pay over £900 per month towards the debts this needs to come down as crippling me but by doing the above it's a win/win situ - reduce the debts and the payments being made.0 -

I hope all is well and you are enjoying married life. I am finally at the point after a year where i don't mistakenly write my maiden name! However i have been know to write down my initials incorrectly! I looked up at the holiday board at work the other day and realised all over it i had written KG rather than KK xxOrange Fairy

Thanks guys - being married is great
Now back to money. Need to aim for a few NSD's so that I can keep on track. Starting with today. I can see no reason why I would have to spend anything as working from home, have petrol in car if I do go anywhere but shouldn't do as Mum and her partner are coming over.
Little steps....aim for today = no spend day
Did a food shop yesterday and other than milk and bread I think we'll be able to make what's in cupboards, fridge and freezer last for couple of weeks which is when we get paid - fingers crossed!!!
Hubby and I are going to sit and look at finances over the weekend - first time we've had since getting married where we are both off at some point. Madness! That said I have taken overtime opportunity both Sat & Sun, every penny helps and don't know when it'll stop as sporadic at best of times.
Have a good day all

No spend day achieved yesterday :j:T:j
Very impressed with myself as had my mum and her partner over for dinner and basically made a mix match meal from anything I could find in freezer or fridge etc - went down well and didn't have to spend a penny
Aiming for another NSD today - have BBQ at friends this evening but think OH is picking up bits for that so i'm hopeful that they'll be no spending again.0
