I understand since it was my fault I can't claim anything at all. Of course I'm looking for a job now, but that won't help with this months bills (mortgage etc).
Don't be put off claiming benefits by the thought that it was your fault that you lost your job. Like ukdickie says, you may have a sanction applied. This means that your JSA will be reduced - possibly to zero - provided that you would have otherwise been entitled.
Like dmg says, it's 39 weeks before you can get mortgage interest - however, I understand that claims can be linked by up to twelve months.
So if you were unemployed within the last twelve months and were receiving mortgage interest payments, then you should be able to get them again straight away, without having to wait 39 weeks. If you weren't getting them because you hadn't been unemployed long enough, then the length of time you were unemployed last time round will be deducted from the 39 weeks you'd have to wait this time round.
I understand that housing benefit and council tax benefit is not affected by JSA sanctions. I'm not sure whether mortgage interest payments are affected by a JSA sanction, but I suspect they're probably not.
Here's what'll happen - your JSA claim will be initially assessed after your Restart interview. The decision about whether or not to impose a sanction for leaving work voluntarily will be made later. This means you'll probably receive JSA for a few weeks, then it may or may not stop, depending on this decision.
A JSA sanction for leaving work voluntarily can only be applied if the last day that you worked was less than six months before you put in your claim for JSA. So, for example, if you went off sick for six months, and then got better but decided you didn't want to go back to your old job again and that you'd rather claim JSA and look for a different job, then a sanction cannot be imposed for this.0 -
That may be but did your employer correctly follow all the formalities of the disciplinary procedure?
I beleive so...Suspended with reasons told to me. Told about the discip 48 hours in advance with reasons and a letter, offered representation etc.
Held disciplinary, adjurned, took decision to dismiss. Haven't received any written confirmation of that yet, though.0 -
