Quick question on how to organise favourites

Hi,
this is what I get when I click the favourites star and then right click with all folders closed,
and this is what I get when a folder is open,
so I would think that you should get much the same, can't understand where you are getting all that extra stuff from.0 -
Sorry, got side tracked. Have sent you a PM.0

Thanks frugal. Sorry I couldn't post sooner, I was busy doing boring adult chores![Deleted User] wrote:Hi,

Ahh - I see! Mine gives a different list from yours and doesn't have "sort by name" on it! I wish I knew how to capture it and show it as a photo like you've done - but hey, I can't, so I'll write it as a list:
Expand, Create New folder, Explore, Open, Browse with paint shop, Search, Sharing and Security, Scan with AVG, Send to, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Rename, Properties. I don't know what to do next and this pesky favourites thing is getting under my skin. :rotfl: Any ideas anyone?0 -
Is it there if you use Favourites in the menu bar (not the 'star' icon)? By default the menu bar is hidden in IE7. To show it, click Tools - Menu Bar. Then click the Favourites menu, right-click a folder and Sort By Name should be listed.0

Hi,
this is what I get using the favourites button on menu bar,
Just a thought, would you click the 2 wee arrows next to the tools icon (top right), click help, and down to About Internet Explorer, and see what version you are on, I'm on version: 7.0.5730.11IS, and just wonder if you are on a beta version.0 -

It's 6.0.2900.2180 - if I've typed it correctly!

Hi,
looks as if you are still on IE6, I, and I think others thought you were on IE7, I would suggest an update, you can always remove it in Add/Remove later if you don't like it.
Have a look here.0 -

It worked! Well done Chippy and thanks! Thank you too, to all the contributors for your help on this one - I knew it'd be something quite easy - but only if you know the right magic spells to apply - but if you don't know them, you've had it! I realise now that every time I add a favourite, I'll have to keep re-sorting the list, so could I possibly be cheeky, (now that I'm on a roll!
) and ask if anyone knows of a default/magic spell that'll make my system do it automatically, as it used to - all by itself?! 0 -

Glad it was a quick question, and nothing too technical, only took a couple of days, or so. :rotfl:
Still think you should consider updating to IE7.
Edit: Found this, know nothing about it, try it if you wish but remember the dangers of messing about with the registry, maybe somebody could try it out first and report.0 -

Thanks frugal, Yeh me too - I'm in the process of downloading IE7 right now! I've heard some reports of things sometimes going a bit pear shaped after installing some windows updates, (which, as you can see means I'm still running on the old stuff), but you're advice has been fab so far, so I'm sure it'll all go swimmingly!
The beers are on me! I'll crack open a Party Seven now then shall I? Sorry, I've been watching Life On Mars and I've come over all 1970's - obviously, what I meant was, would you care for a nice celebratory glass of chilled Chablis? I'll get the glasses!
