  • I have done absolutely no flying today. I really really wish I could come home on a Friday and run round the house with duster and hoover and free up my weekend but I don't know about the rest of you but come Friday night I am whacked and just want to curl up on the couch and veg out. Oh well I'll do it tomorrow. xx

Agree it's hard to do it on a Friday night, although I am now finding that as I'm making an effort during the week there isn't much left to do by Friday and it's not the end of the world if Friday's list doesn't get done as whatever room it is was done the previous week it won't be TOO bad (well, depending on how many people live in your house and how tidy/clean they are I guess).

I aim to do some at the weekend but don't give myself a hard time if I don't,but before all this flying malarkey I used to leave all my chores til the weekend (believing that working full time meant I couldnt do them in the week). I used to have this at the back of my mind all weekend but not do them - and then have to spend all weekend every few weeks having a real blitz. Much better this way!

    Today's necessaries:
    • hoover upstairs
    • s&s bathroom and kitchen
    • get blow up mattress and bedding from loft for DD's friend staying tonight
    • put up radiator and suitacase while up there
    • reconcile banking online
    • empty DW
    • hang up washing - once dry fold and put away
    • one hotspot (table)
put away purchases from Thursday's birthday shopping
    • sort bag of paperwork in bedroom
    • 3 magazines to flick through and recycle (pile taking ages!)
    • take cardboard round to recycling
    • 2 report to write for work
    • minutes " " "
    • 2 emails " " "
    • try and go to the gym

If it's nice this afternoon (hard to tell what the weather's going to do yet) I may abandon all the above and sort out the shed!

OK tutoring this morning so need to get myself ready and may check in later to update. Have got things I want to do sometime over the weekend but not adding them to today's list as it will make it too bid! If they get done it will be a bonus and I will add them when I update, if not I will have to add them on tomorrow's list, which should be shorter anyway.

    Enjoy the weekend all.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • I'm new to this and trying so hard to keep up - I managed to do most of the list yesterday, but I left the bathroom floor until this morning as OH would only come upstairs in his work boots and muddy it up. He'll do the same this evening, but somehow that feels different. Anyway - I filled the basin with water and Stardrops (thank you so much!) because I can't use a bucket because son #2 (18m) is attracted to that like a bee to honey, got busy and was so engrossed feeling jolly pleased with myself that I failed to notice son #1 (3 and unlikely to make 4) tipping out my bumper pack of earbuds into the full basin. So not only did I have to stop mopping (and of course #2 stepped in to 'help') but I have lost any savings I made my buying the buds in bulk. Please tell me there is light at the end of this tunnel. I also discarded my very very old tumble dryer to save money and free up much needed space in the shrinking cottage and it hasn't stopped raining since....

    Hi All

Well my first flying week is over and I haven't done brilliantly :(. I started off well, and was really pleased with myself Mon, Tuesday and Wednesday but on Thursday I started a really heavy period and by the time I got home from work I felt completely drained so hardly did anything at all.
On Friday I was in turmoil all day and evening after much deliberating about finishing my relationship. Eventually, I bit the bullet and ended up but felt like crap all evening 'cos there was a lot of good stuff and I'm so tired of starting new relationships and feeling all hopeful, only for them to end. I felt better once I got a text of my now 'ex' to say he understood and that he'd always be here for me if I needed a hug, which of course set me off in floods of tears again but I still knew it was the right thing to do. So no flying done Friday either :(
Still, onwards and upwards and I hope to do some catching up today tho' I'm not going to go mad and try to do everything I missed. Just the priority stuff and I've also got to go to town to buy 2 birthday pressies and mothers day stuff.
    Have a good weekend all

Welcome happyathome-withmyboys :j I had to smile at your story although I'm sure it was frustrating at the time. I'm fairly new here too and just done my first week of 'flying' but it didn't go as well as I would have liked but I've still ended the week a lot more organised than when I started it so that is progress. It will take a while before you reap the benefits of 'flying' but I would say it's well worth sticking out and you'll get lots of support on this thread - they are a great bunch.
My only tip is don't try to do too much at first - I didn't always complete the full list 'cos I was afraid of 'burning out' and then giving up 'cos I would end up exhausted. Just do what you can and remember to write down Everything that you have achieved in the day. Good luck :j

I feel exactly the same millionaire - this Friday was exceptionally difficult due to other circumstances detailed in my other post but to be honest, when I get in from work *every* day, I feel like just vegging. I've given myself a time limit of just an hour of 'flying' after work - what I don't get done in that time is left till next time round. This way, I can know that I will be finished say after 8pm and then I have the whole evening to veg and I feel so much better about relaxing once I've gone things done first.
Stick with - it really is worth it. I also adapt the list a bit to suit my housework priorities.
    Good luck
  • Another one here that didn't do any flying yesterday evening. I did some before work, but nothing once I got home as I was completely shattered. I need to go to the postoffice, get food for the rats and a couple of things in the supermarket and then I'm going to catch up.

  • thank you debbiecatz!
I like the idea of writing down what has been done - my previous method (which has failed me for over 20 years) has been to write down what needs to be done - which of course is never-ending etc. Can I write down EVERY time I have to pick up the 'my-favourite-hot-water-bottle-that-father-christmas-bought-me-specially' from the stairs and replace it back in its home in the airing cupboard? I'm on 7 times so far this morning....

You should definitely write that down every time happyathome:D

One load of normal washing (clothes) on the line and I've done the throws from the living room and the cushion covers too - before the weather goes downhill tomorrow. It's blowing round well and feels really mild out there. I've got the back door open so the dog can look out and see the world :)

Husband put up new toilet roll holder which DD managed to break earlier in the week. It was only about 40 years old (was here when we moved in in 1976). Honestly, things just don't last.....

Made choc chip muffins and an apple fruit cake (can't remember if that's the right name, got it off the recipe index and haven't tried it before. Still cooling).

    Coffee time.

    Saturday morning frenzy!!

    Well, sort of.

    Slept in till 10.
Woke up with a cup of coffee and some cold left over Pizza from last night. :D

Have got cracking after that though.
    Did one load of washing..

Changed the beds in the girls room, and second load of washing is now on with the bedsheets.

Hoovered and mopped the livingroom and kitchen floor thouroughly.

Sat down with a cup of with DH and a cream egg..
Cleaned up 2 year old after she was sticky all over from a cream egg.. what a delight it is to watch her enjoy one of those!! :D

    Anyway.. still to do:

DH --> grocery shopping at Lidl.
fix new glass pain in front door.

    me: Toilet
    Washing,
    folding
    ironing
and loads of other stuff that will keep me going I'm sure.

I'm hoping to find me some quiet time tonight to do some more writing. My head is buzzing with inspiration again and it needs writing down or my head will explode!
    :D:D

Time to put two year old to bed now... happy napping.. Lucky thing! She has no idea how lucky she is getting to take a nap every afternoon.
