Weekly Flylady Thread 12th March 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread, usually ran by Moggins but I'm just filling in temporarily. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it! To those current members, thanks for your support last week, hopefully I'm doing an ok job!

Pleased it's helping with that, feel free to get a head start if you have important things on tomorrow, tend to be guilty of that myself. Posting early as I'll be decorating this evening and once I get started I forget everything else and next thing I know it's morning! Yes has happened several times before, finishing as the kids come down in the morning for school tends to happen.

If anyone wants anything adding as a nudge to sort something you have been putting off just shout and I'll fit it in somewhere :)

:rotfl: I wondered who would mention that, I know it looks a bit longer doesn't it, but each jobs not a long one, shouldn't take too long. Means we get the weekend off too :D I need next weekend off as my sister starts moving then and have to go help her, so won't be able to play catch up.

I basically went through kitchen last week, doing it my way and wrote down what was missed on the list I had made, and made a new one while I was on. If you need to thin it down by all means do so, always have the theory of don't overdo it or you'll get sick of it.

Reason for kitchen switch, mines a tip, and will be even more after I have finished baking/cooking so being selfish :o :rotfl: :p

No need to start today if you don't have to, if you have other things on like Reformed tomorrow then by all means, but not essential really, weekends are mean't to be time off from housework duties (and recovery from over indulgence time for some :rotfl: )

    :D

Me too - came on whilst I had a cup of tea and thrilled the list was already up - last week I was on and off all evening waiting for it!

Delighted to see the kitchen cupboards on there as a possible extra as I have just finished the bathroom cupboard (which goes up to the ceiling and contains enough shower gel, makeup, rubbish to keep several families going several months!!) and decided to have a go at one of the kitchen cupboards. Now I will especially virtuous as I will be ahead on tomorrow's list.

May even do the kitchen as well as only having a snack later (having had a late but big Sunday lunch so won't be that hungry) so no danger of it being messed up again. I have a slatted wooden blind at the kitchen backdoor and thinking maybe that should have a good clean - but maybe that's being a bit TOO enthusiastic as I know that is a horrible and fiddly job. Mmm, think may put that off

Also hoping to sort out my pile of papers (work and personal) currently decorating the living room floor. Given myself that task to do whilst watching Corrie and Wild at Heart later - and also looking forward to that new one with Charles Dance so can watch TV and be virtuous at the same time.

Thanks very much Lil_me for keeping us all on track. I'd thought the lists were longer but generally if it's on the list I do try and do it, and it means some of the jobs I might skip get done.

DD is very impressed that I'm keeping it up - I know that without the list and all of you on here (particularly Moggins and lil_me , my house would be in its usual state. Right, off to tackle the kitchen cupboards - I may be a while
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • brilliant lil_me my kitchen is also a tip so had been hoping it wsa kitchen day or else i would have had to do it anyway!! it stinks of fish pie which i spilt in oven and obviously haven't got it all!! I had a quick look at the list and squinted at the kitchen paragraph in the hope that you'd have forgotten to put clean floor on the list - no such luck.:o My kitchen floor is huge and to my shame I'm always putting it off but tomorrow that will be the thing I'll try to do above anything else...........wish me luck!!

Thanks for the list lil_me - you're doing a good job in Moggins absence(hope she's ok - does anyone know?)

Thanks lil_me you are doing a fantastic job:T . Did most jobs on the list for last weeks list (not bad for a newbie!) Which meant I could have a day out with the kids and my parents guilt free today. Must be working as I have DS1 uniform layed out for tommorrow morning, meal plan done for the week:j and when I came home this afternoon DH had washed up and was doing the ironing:eek: :j

Anyway my list for tommorrow is:

    Kitchen & Downstairs Toilet

    Kitchen
    1. Wipe down all worktops, cupboard doors, drawer fronts and windowsill.
    2. Clean top of cooker, inside of fridge and microwave.
    3. Clean sink, draining board and wash any plastic drainers/cutlery holders.
    4. Sort out fridge make sure anything that needs using soon is at front
    5. Clean washer drawer out
    6. Clean kitchen window, light switches and light fitting
    7. Clean oven if required, I know not everyone uses the oven a lot so leave that up to you
    8. Wipe down all appliances, washer, freezer, slow cooker etc make sure all dust/grime free
    9. Clean floor.
    10. Wipe down skirting boards

Downstairs toilet (if you have one)
    1. Clean sink in around taps and shine them with a dry cloth.
    2. Empty bin/anything that is rubbish from room.
    3. Dust any shelves, wipe top of toilet cistern, and the flusher (handle/cord) etc.
    4. Clean toilet, especially under the seat and around the hinges.
    5. Clean toilet floor.
    6. Clean door and handles on both sides

Don't forget the daily/night time routines of course!

If you fancy an extra job, sort one kitchen cupboards/other storage area, what's lurking? Sort any out of date items if it's a food cupboard, make sure short dated items at the front. If it's a bakeware/tubs cupboard make sure all items have lids with them, check for broken items which should have been binned.

    Plus extras for me:
    WM
TD (might put some out on the line if this weather stays nice:cool: )
    Put clothes away.
    SS bathroom
Phone around for DD preschool place in September (the one where I had put her name down where DS1 went has changed the start time to 9.00:mad: which would be fine but it takes me 10 minutes to get her there from dropping DS1 at school so she would always be late!)

Anyway thanks again from me and hope everyone is ok and having a good weekend
