Wedding theme...my head is about to implode

Same here! And nobody will bat an eyelid as I am well known among my family and friends for being a vintage loving type, our house is full of shabby chic and mismatched stuff so it's very 'us'. there isn't a theme as such, but I guess it will all be very vintage, retro etc with a little art deco and French influence (the wedding is on Bastille Day
)
I'm the opposite of most of you. I hate colour schemes, they just leave me cold. We'll be having lots of colours
Yes and me I get it from my Mum, Abit of a vintage throwback, hippy kind of person!
I am having wellies and umbrellas, because I am getting Married in April and it will no doubt rain, But I'm also having flip flops because we are a stones throw from the beach!
I think I will call my theme "April Showers" hehe:tongue: Learning to live with BPD & DDNOS
:j I no longer skinny dip, I chunky dunk :j
After my op I'll be skinny dipping!

Phew - I was worried about logging in today and finding lots of people hating my message!
I think you just have to pick what you love, be that vintage, bling or whatever.
Although (as a new wedding geek ) I stand my ground on the birdcages :rotfl:;)0 -

It's my pet bugbear about wedding magazines. When I got married 24 years ago they were all about how to do things, timescales & duties. My best friend got married last year & all the mags were on about themes and ridiculous thing you just "have to have" like wine glass charms at £30 for 6 . My daughter is getting married as soon as we can stump up the cash (waiting for my gran's estate to be finalised). It's her partner who wants a themed wedding - medieval or fantasy - but that's because he doesn't want to wear a suit!!! It's a nightmare trying to plan one one a budget .proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

Another one here saying 'baaah' to the theme thing. It doesn't make sense to OH and I so we're just ignoring it. My MIL2B did ask when we got engaged what our theme would be and I gave her with a blank look, I really had no idea what she was talking about. Nothing's changed since
. I can understand if a couple have a passion for something that they would want to incorporate it - it's part of who they are after all.
Btw bridal magazines - I stopped buying them. I was appalled by one magazine that actively encouraged competition between brides to have more fancy (and presumably) expensive weddings.0 -
Tell everyone that you aren't a sheep / aren't going to jump on that bandwagon just because themes are "in" :rotfl:.
Tell them your colour scheme and that you can't be doing with that "theme nonsense", "the theme is I am marrying the man I love" ha ha!!
Good luck!
PS I'm not having a theme either, the only extra stuff I'm doing is putting giant Jenga and Quoits games inthe garden (August weding) and throwing confetti in my colours, over the tablesBack in the Midlands! :j0 -
I reckon you can have a theme but not worry too much but extras
I want my theme to be loosely based around Doctor Who since we're both huge fans, and I'm mainly going to incorporate that by having Tardis Blue as my central colour - bridesmaids dresses, flowers, my shoes, candles on tables etc.
But I'm not going to go overboard trying to make every detail tie in. I'll be happy if the colours match, and I'm not sold on having favours either.0 -
I had wedding colours, because I wanted the cake to match the flowers and the bridesmaids dresses, but that was it. If anyone asked for a theme, we said "fun, bright, colourful" and that was that.0

Our theme is 'wedding'. It's working out pretty well so far.0
