Hi, I know it's probably in the recipe index somewhere, but I can't find it!
I need a recipe for flatbread for tea ( in about an hour's time) I'd be really grateful if someone could post a recipe for me
Thanks

Try this, its just standard bread but if you roll it out and bake it on the oven bars for about 5-10 mins it's fab.
This makes a lot,but you can freeze.
1 1/2 lbs white bread flour
1 tsp easy-blend yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
15 fl oz hand-hot water
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl
Gradually stir in water
When it all begins to come together, tip out on a work surface and knead for about 4 mins.Add more flour to your hands if it is too sticky to knead.
When it is nice and smooth, put it back in the bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1 1/2 hours.
Punch the dough down to knock all the air out.
Give it a quick knead-30 secs
Divide into pieces about the size of a large apple.
Flour your work surface and roll out-whatever shape you fancy, tear shape, round, oval, freeform.
Bake in a v.hot oven-230c,directly on the bars of the oven shelves,as many as will fit at a time, for about 5-10 mins.Watch them just to make sure. They should puff up.Wrap in a teatowel to keep them soft.

Thanks for your quick replies. It looks like I've left it far too late! That's what happens when you don't plan ahead and cook somethng on the spur of the moment. Note to self: must read about recipe planning!0

I read a brilliant recipe on here for curry so whoever contributed it please take a bow!:p
It went like this:
For very tasty authentic curries, I always start by heating some oil in a pan, add a half teaspoon of cumin seeds, then when they start to pop add lots of finely chopped onion.Keep cooking slowly adding water if it starts to dry out, then add freshly grated ginger and garlic and a teaspoon of garam masala/and or curry powder, keep cooking and adding water until you get the required consistency - this is your base for practically any curry. If you want a tomato curry then add a tin of tomatoes.
Then add whatever meat/veg/fish you fancy. If you want a creamy curry then omit the tomatoes and add cream at the end and a few toasted flaked almonds.
Very simple, very tasty, MUCH Healthier than jars with all their additives and colours etc .....and much easier on the pocket. I usually make this on a Friday with either all the leftover veg in the frig or if the budget allows, some fish or chicken pieces. You could also use lentils for a healthy dal. I suallyu serve it with boiled riced( which I cook with some cloves, cinnamon and a bay leaf) as well as a cucumber, tomato and onion salad and flatbreads[Bmade from wholemeal flour, warm water a drop of oil and a pinch of salt( just rollout and cook on a dry hot pan)
If anyone knows the quantities needed to make these flatbreads, I`d be very grateful and I hope you enjoy the recipe as much as we have. Thanks to the original poster!0 -
Oh I'd love the flatbreads recipe too - I've always wanted to make my own but all the recipes & methods sound so complicated.
The curry sounds fab, and a lot cheaper & healthier than the jars of sauce - I'll be trying it out this week I think!0
