This must be an absolute con.
3 can't be affected by the whole inflation rate.
Also I've just been on '3shop' and found they are offering contracts with more
features than I have for less monthly fee.
    Work that out!!

Indeed. Two of my sons are on the £15 sim 300 plan. One signed up just before the cut off date and one after. So one will get the price increase but they are exactly the same tariffs. Work that out lol

I'm going to fight this, it's of material detriment to me being charged more for something I had agreed to be a certain price when I signed the contract. I don't accept their change in prices so they can either let me continue to pay my previous tariff or they can terminate my contract.

They will terminate your contract if you don't pay your bills! And chase you for the cancellation charges caused by your default.

You agreed to their ts + cs which does permit price rises!

To all the people above throwing a hissy fit, I suggest you don't lie to the network when taking out the contract in future. (You explicitly agree that you read the T&Cs and that you agree to abide by them at the time of signing the contract - one of the T&Cs being their right to increase these charges without penalty).

well said, all the networks are doing it so not sure why complain.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • There are such things as 'unfair terms and conditions'.
    Ask Martin.

    Nobody reads all the t&c's
If you use Paypal, did you read their t&c's: they are 35000 words long

Does anyone know what the penalty is to terminate a Three contract?

I just signed a 24 month contract with Three last month. :wall:

The service is pretty bad so was already considering cancelling it. This is the final straw.

Candy flossing. It says that they will only increase prices, for now, if you signed up. Score 8th March.

Vodafone Price Rise from 11th October 2011.

Orange Price Rise from 8th January 2012

    T-mobile price rise from 9th May 2012

The other networks have been at it, so it was only a matter of time before 3 would. Go on a long-winded battle about "material detriment" if you like, which will probably cost more time in postage, phone calls and time that it has any hope of getting back in reduced bills.

A £15 a month contract is increasing by 54p each month. All price rises are a pain, but perspective is needed. Perhaps avoid lengthy contracts in the future and move to SIM-only if such an increase is so indigestible.

For many, it won't be the quantum increase that's the issue. It's the fact that the operator's know how long they're in it for, and should price it to cover their expenses for providing the service for that period. If they want to increase their price after that, fine, go ahead - at least then you have a choice whether to stay with them.

A little extreme, but it's like buying a TV, then a couple of years later Sony ringing you up asking for extra cash to fund R&D of their next range. Or, like easjet selling you a ticket, and then when you go to board, asking for more money because their costs have increased. Oh...hang on... :)

I think the principle of it is disgusting. On the whole people differentiate between mobile operators on price. The idea that you can hook people in at one price then raise it later is ridiculous. People would never stand for it in another industry. It seems like a very unfair term considering how one-sided it is.

It's not about 50p a month, it's not about £1 a month, it's about being charged 1 penny more than was agreed, considering that you're locked into a contract and can't leave....
