Anyone who is successful in getting their contract cancelled without penalty will gain a great deal more than just saving on paying the increase! (Think free smartphone!!)

Very true IF anyone can actually win that is what matters and how much will it cost in sending letters, time and whatever else!

From following the threads previously about Orange when they increased their prices everyone was up in arms about it and said they will fight to the bitter end and you know what? I am pretty sure no one did and Orange won and all the huffing and puffing by people on that thread contributed nothing.

Best bet is to simply carry on paying until your contract has finished and then vote with your feet and go elsewhere.

Surely you will spend more on fighting this than the increase anyway?

Orange had specific terms in their contracts allowing this kind of rise. As did T-Mobile. Three don't. So it's a different scenario.

Everyone's crying about their consumer rights and moaning about the principle of the matter when really you're all just thinking 'Mmmmm free smartphone'

If you can get out scot free, then you might be saving (say) 18+ months at £30/£40. And getting a free smartphone!

Assuming that you still need airtime for the smartphone it is more likely to be £20/£30 saving p.m. rather than £30/£40.

I suspect they would be more inclined to waive the increase that give away hundreds of pounds worth of free phone.

If you cancelled would you not have to give the phone back.

No because they charge you for the remainder of the contract as you are breaking it early.

Thought the contract said you could end without penalty, therefore not pay for future months.

They don't have that option (if the contract allows you this get out).
